I ordered this product to repalce a defective reader,the new one was defective also!!!!!!!!!!!,I just have all the books now no reader!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah

The story reader works great but we were disapointed that the music box did not play and since this model of reader is no longer manufactured, did not want to return it.

This was a gift for my 3 year old daughter. She has the 'my first story reader' but I thought this would be better for her and yes I was correct. She really likes to sit and listen tot he stories being read to her, especailly the beauty and the beast that came with it and tinkerbell and fairies that I bought for her. The added bonus to this story reader was the princess jewelry box that came with it....she keeps all of her 'special' stuff in it!!

I love the Story Readers and am saddened to see that they are very obviously going out of style. The unfortunate part of this purchase was that the music box this package came with was very obviously old as the batteries were going out and all it made was an annoying continuous screech. I had to tear the batter and speaker unit out. Otherwise, the Reader itself seems to be working so far.

Got this in the mail today for my daughter's b-day. Story Reader works fine. Jewelry box is junk. Batteries were already dead so song would not play right and there is no way to replace them without tearing the box up.

My daughter was given the princess set (minus the music box) as a gift. She was so excited to listen to it. The first story Cinderella worked fine but the other 3 books would only play half way through the book or start but then stop. The worst part about my whole experience with Storyreader is their customer service. Initially when I called they wouldn't replace the books. When I called the second time, the rep was easy about replacing them. This whole process started in Feb 2011 and it is now May 2011 and I still haven't received my replacement books. They have the worst customer service. The number you call is supposed to help with troubleshooting but they cannot even answer the simple question of when my order was shipped. They will transfer you and then take a message. I had to keep calling them back after waiting a week at a time because no one would call back. Every time you call them you have to repeat your whole story again, they don't seem to have any info on past conversations. It was only until I became irate with them that they finally passed me onto their supervisor. To clarify, in the months that have passed they did send me replacement books, not Princess stories but Elmo. My daughter is 6 and has no interest in Elmo (never has.) I would have expected that knowing the books I was waiting for they would have sent replacement books that are in the same age/topic category. I did try one of the Elmo books and surprise surprise, not only did it not work but it was incompatible with my reader system. Ours was the old version and the books sent us were the new version. In short, do not buy this product. Stay away from Storyreader all together unless you want the biggest and longest headache ever. This is no exaggeration. This is truly buyer beware. Still waiting and I'm not holding my breath....

I had resisted buying this for a while but finally caved in and got it for my three year old at Christmas. She loves and enjoys it, we read it together and I feel proud that my daughter actually has her first kiddie audio book which is actually audio and visual all at once. At first, I was concerned it would be doing my job for me, reading to my child. But I still read other books to her that are not in story-reader format and she particularly enjoys the sound effects it provides. I recently ordered more story-reader books from amazon yesterday, showing how much of a great buy I consider this to be. The product comes highly recommended.

PS: At first, I thought one of her story-reader books was faulty because we would turn a page and it wouldn't pick up or it would read the wrong page. I then realized that it worked perfectly fine if we fully opened up the device and laid it flat either on the floor or on someone's lap. My little girl enjoys turning the pages herself now.

The musical jewelry box that came with it was not as much of a great buy as it is faulty and the singing skips. I have not located where I can change the battery on it.
