"Well I came from Andy's playroom with a guitar on my knee..." The flashlight flickers as the toys settle down for a night's rest. A guitar is softly strummed and Woody's reassuring, slightly off-key voice begins a cowboy's version of a lullaby. "You've got a friend in me..." Everything is peaceful, until--twang!--Woody must've broken a string! You reach over, give the tuning peg a twist or two to help him get tuned up, and then start him strumming again. The rest of the evening's ritual goes off without a hitch. Strummin' Singin' Woody is a floppy, jointed soft doll who would stand (if he could) almost 18 inches tall in his cowboy boots. His plastic guitar features a pair of buttons that let him either sing or whistle a trio of tunes; it also has a light sensor, which means that if you want to keep him singing, you need to keep him strumming. (Or you can just cover up the sensor.) From his cow-print sheriff's vest to Andy's mark of ownership on the bottom of his right boot, he's the real McCoy. His ten-gallon hat and empty holster belt are both removable, but the guitar stays put. And for the record, Woody's got the token pull ring on his back--but it's stitched on. No strings attached. My daughter just loves Woody. His faux pull string is confusing, since we can't determine its purpose - other than a handle with which to pull off Woody's vest - but his songs are fun. She loves to make him sing and whistle, and it was easy for mom and dad to find the light sensors that make Woody work. We also love that Woody have an OFF switch. Otherwise, he sings in the dark when his buttons get bumped. We are all learning the songs Woody sings, and the adults are amused by the clever lyrics to 'Home on the Range' and 'Oh, Susanna'.

This was the toy my son wanted for Christmas, and he has not put it down since. He takes it everywhere. It's helpful to be able to switch the guitar off (like in church). I wish the hat were made of a softer plastic, such as the Pullstring Woody's.

i purchased 2 of these last christmas for my 4 yr old son and 3 year old daughter. the songs are great, it is easy to play with, and you can shut the guitar off in the back when you are done. the only thing my children complained about was the fact that you couldn't remove the guitar from woody. a must have for toy story2 fans!!!
