This Album Rocks!!,

This review is from: Story Thought Over (Audio CD)
My daughter bought this album at a concert where we saw Verona Grove open for Goo Goo Dolls, and I Love it!! It's full of fast guitars and infectious hooks and kickin' rock songs. Tony, the guitar player and lead singer has a clear ringing voice that manages to be familiar yet unique, and his lyrics are pretty resonant for one so young. Charlie lays down these amazing complex driving bass lines that just blew me away. And last but not least, Josh keeps them all together with his inventive and interesting rhythm tracks. I think these guys are going places and I hope they garner all the success they deserve.

Talented band that you've heard how many times...?,

I can't find anything that negative say about this band. Their live shows have good energy, their music is tight and have great hooks. They have the look and that polished kind of sound that you would hear on the radio.
That being said, there is no originality to their music. Verona Groves sounds like all the All American Rejects, All Time Lows, and any other generic pop-punk bands that have come before them and already achieved fame. Not only have bands from the same genre already achieved more commercial success than this band will, but there are numerous local acts, in just my area, that have the exact same look and sound and do it equally as well as Verona Grove. Talented musicians but uninspired tunes.

The music is awesome. It really is. And live they put on a great show for you. I mean they really rock for ya. But when you listen to it on cd it loses its punk edge. I still like the album, I still listen to it and rock my little head. But it is missing its heart. If you like Verona Grove then it is your duty to support these struggling artists despite the less than rocking feel.
