Snow White (shirayuki hime) "kana reader",

This review is from: The Story of Snow White (Kodansha Nihongo Folktales) (Paperback)
This is a well produced bi-lingual childrens book. It has nice pictures, and japanese in standard vertical, right-to-left columns. The english is a separate set of (plain text) pages, followed by footnotes on japanese grammatical usage, indexed by page.Generally, I think it was very well done. Now I would like to find a similarly done book, but with words that are more commonly used than "oshiro" (castle) and "kerai" (retainer). Also, I wish that the page-by-page gramatical notes were mixed in with the normal english translation. But I guess that would spoil the ease of reading the english to a child, so i wont knock off points for that :-) |
