It's like nothing that's currently mainstream, something fresh and new without being weird or too-out-there. Echoing a lot of the style from the original Shanghai Restoration Project, Story of a City is less experimental and puts a stronger focus on the lyrics and voices. This album feels more pop than the original. I'd classify SRP as the sort of compiliation of music like Pure Moods, but totally more hip. There's no etherealness and you get music that's straightforward. There's less of the asian sound but it is still a backbone of this cd. Overall, I love this album. I like it more than the first.

David Liang is a genius, chanced upon their music on youtube, when I was hooked onto Ian Widgery's remixes of old Chinese songs, just had to get this, and the other album, the special edition CD. Love it!

This is either my favorite or second favorite album of theirs. Really good songs all around and a few priceless gems in the mix. If you like east/west fusion music you gotta check it out!
