Don't wait to grab this Ep!,

Jennings music possesses a maturity and elegance that's hard to find in today's pop music. But don't think for a minute that it is lacking any catchy hooks or great melodies though. It isn't! Storybook Ep is a powerhouse of pop.
Songs like Doorway and her cover of Rihanna's Umbrella are sure to place her at the top of indie pop rockers favorite lists. Don't miss out on this album! Get your hands on it before she gets noticed. You won't be able to get this girl's music out of your head! P.S. I don't much care for the original but her cover of Umbrella is great!

The Storybook EP is phenomenal. Mary Jennings has a beautiful voice and the lyrics are catchy. She has a rich, distinctive sound.
I play this album whenever I want to feel inspired, when I'm sad, or when I'm in a great mood. Its versatile and there's something for everyone. "Doorway" gets me going with its inspiring melody. The "Umbrella" cover is also a favourite of mine, though not a fan of the original. I love the stories that Jennings weaves throughout her music. Looking forward to the next album from Jennings. I Highly recommend checking out some of her new stuff also.

Moth Pick Of The Week (6-28-09),
This review is from: Storybook - Ep (MP3 Download)
I came across Jennings music a couple of months ago and was immediately drawn into it's unique sound. Her style is very much an electronica influenced pop that's a bit in the vein of Imogen Heap but with bit more of an organic flair.
Her latest EP Storybook exemplifies this style perfectly. Each track shines with poppy melodic melodies that stay with you. Jennings's amazing cover of "Umbrella" is prime example of this. It's just the kind of album that even if you only listen to once (though I highly recommend that you listen to more than just once) you'll find its songs running through your head all day long. Perhaps it's due to my deep rooted love for the film Garden State, but I'm just waiting for an indie filmmaker to discover this EP. I could easily hear Jennings's music being used in a film like Juno or Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist. Storybook is poignant, passionate, and smooth. That's why it's this week's Moth Pick Of The Week. |
