Omg, it's great. It's very high quality (that's the reason I wanted Stott to begin with). This is a lifetime purchase machine. It is the home version so it is lower to the ground than the studio version but it feels every bit as sturdy. It's the full length (I'm 5'10" and I have plenty of room on it.) Sturdy, sturdy, sturdy and totally quiet. It has wheels so I can move it even though it is pretty heavy. Took about 10 minutes tops to set it up it came 90% set up, basically I popped in the headrests, put the cables through and I was set up. I had to read the wording carefully on how to make sure the cables were the right length but after reading it 3 times I understood what they meant. Professionally packed (check list was done by hand and everything was there). I paid $0 for shipping via Amazon, if I bought it directly through Stott they wanted an extra $300 for shipping. The shipping company was great (Eagle). They brought it right to my apartment. I am 100% thrilled with this. I have to pay $75 a session in my local Pilates studio (plus tax) to get a reformer workout once a week. Now I can do it everyday if I want and it will pay for itself in no time. Great quality. Can't find a thing to complain about other than now I have a huge empty box I have to break down and get out of my apartment. Yes a lot of money, but if you've been going to a studio for the last two years like I have -- worth it!!!

Not even close to the Balanced Body Allegro,
By
This review is from: Stott Pilates At Home SPX Reformer (Sports)
I bought one of these and took lessons on a Balanced Body Allegro. The Allegro costs about the same but doesn't come with any extras like a box, etc. (You can order them separately if you really have a use for them).
I gave this one 2 stars only because it comes with so much stuff for the price. On the other hand there are BIG differences between this and the Allegro: "Ride:" The Allegro carriage is completely smooth and silent, the Stott feels and sounds like a Nordic Track. Padding: The Stott hurts my knees because the padding is so thin, no such problem with the Allegro's memory foam padding. Rope/Pulley noise: much, much more on the Stott. Footbar: The Allegro has 4 vertical and four horizontal positions, it's wider, has better (removable) padding and doesn't stink of rubber like the Stott. Springs: The Allegro has a better variety of springs and thus tension settings, and the springs don't keep going "sproing" like the Stott's. Standing Platform: The Allegro's is made of curved metal and is very comfortable to hold with the hands when doing exercises. The Stott is a sharp-edged 1x4 and even with a towel folded several times over it, it bites into your hands. You're spending a lot of money on this piece of equipment because you presumably intend to use for a long time. The Balanced Body machines are a class or two above for a similar price, so why not get the best? No I don't work for Balanced Body, I'm just trying to help other people avoid the mistake I made.

I've taken pilates reformer instructions from a trainer and I paid $350.00 for a 5 lesson package. This meant only taking a lesson a week. I had the Total Trainer with Pilates machine and it was not even close to a real reformer. The Stott Home SPX IS A REAL REFORMER. It's wonderful. Best yet, I can use it several times a week. It really pays for itself. The shipping company (Eagle) were fantastic. I placed the order Sunday, had it by Friday. If you don't mind shelling out some bucks upfront, buy this machine. You will not be disappointed.

Best home workout system ever!,

I couldn't be happier with my Stott Pilates At Home SPX Reformer. It is the same quality as the professional Stott reformer at the Pilates studio and was practically ready to use right out of the crate (6 easy steps were required that I was able to complete in under 30 minutes). I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is seeking an amazing workout in the privacy of their own home.

The Stott SPX Reformer package is very close to the level of models I have used in gyms.
It was easy to set up and the instruction video was exceptional. It has a quality build and will last me for years. Excellent for the price.

Very expensive for the quality,

I've been practicing classical pilates for 10 years on Gratz (likely the old Gratz from >15 yr ago) and on my own Peak Pilates apparatus. I recently joined a group Pilates reformer class which uses the Stott SPX Reformer, and I was stunned by the difference in quality.
While doing the Hundred, the Stott SPX Reformer shakes and feels unstable. While doing legwork like Frog, Leg Circles, the Stott Reformer felt like it pulled toward one side. This was after the instructor and I both checked the reformer to make sure that the apparatus was set up correctly. If given a choice and the option, I would look into other reputable apparatus companies, work out on their apparatus to compare the difference before purchasing. Bottom line for me and my body-- the Stott SPX Reformer is less stable, less balanced compared to apparatus made by Gratz (the old Gratz from >15 yr ago) and by Peak Pilates. N.B. I'm NOT representing any apparatus maker. I'm merely speaking as a long-time, experienced student of classical pilates.

Great product, wrong color,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stott Pilates At Home SPX Reformer (Sports)
I love the machine, it is everything it promises it to be, but for the color: the reformer turned up in black rather than as pictured in off-white. I was specifically looking for something less intrusive in my white loft. I wish the seller specified the color as black, rather than just giving a false image on all websites. The machine has a very distinct unpleasant smell, which I hoped would disappear by now, however after a few weeks it is there and it is still strong, but that should go away, the color stays...
The reason I did not even consider sending it back was that the box is absolutely huge and heavy and the delivery person was really struggling with getting it off the truck as there was no indication in the shipping instruction that he needed any specific equipment/help. As for the Pilates experience, it is a great machine, very smooth and flexible, I particularly like that it has 5th spring which allows to further customize workout.

Stained the Carpet!?,

It's tough for me to comment on the reformer itself because I originally placed it in my living room, and it left four perfectly round stains on the new carpet. So dissappointing, I paid to have the carpet professionally cleaned but no luck, I still have stained carpet. Beware.
