First of all let me tell you what I do and the reason I bought this bike. I am a roadie . Touring video tech. We travel on buses between shows and frequent hotels for months at a time. I was looking for a bike that I could fold up and put in our luggage bay without taking up to much space. Some of the guys leave theirs on the trucks but I wanted mine on the days off so I could split away from the hotel without the need of a cab. I did my research and read other reviews of this bike on more than Amazon and most have been pretty good. I didn't want to spend thousand dollars on a bike , and didn't want to waste a few hundred either. I ordered this and set up a shipment to a hotel we were staying in the next week. I didnt realize what day of the week it was and it wasnt going to make it there before I was to arrive. I called Golf outlets directly to see if i could change the address. They were extremely helpful to me and switched the address for me. I received the bike at my hotel which was packed properly all of the parts were present and no damage. I am very mechanically inclined so putting a bike together is pretty easy and I didn't even open the instructions. Putting the front wheel on was the tricky part. But everything went together pretty smooth. It looks pretty sharp for the money. I have gotten plenty of comments on its look. First thing they ask me is how much it cost .... then they cant believe it . The first day I went out on the road I went on quite a trek. Just guessing it was at least 6 to 8 miles up and down hills going through the 6 gears . The gears work well when applied in the place they were meant for. The breaks work just fine . The seat is big enough and didnt kill my butt. I am a stocky guy muscular 5'10 200lbs .Read more ›

Great value for your money. They sent the wrong book in the box, but for me the set-up was simple and straight-forward. I took it for a spin on hilly and flat terrain and had no problems. The gears shift smoothly and it's rides well. I like the extra long fenders, which will keep me clean when riding in rain or snow. I wish it had a device that can hold it together when it's folded, since it has the tendency to open up, but I can also get a bungee cord to keep it together. All in all, it's a nice looking bike that functions well.

Riders beware - I had a bad experience with this seller. The bike was shipped with assembly required - which I understood. However, the bike arrived with a bent frame, broken brake cables, and two dented fenders. Several weeks of inquiries have failed to produce either return service or a refund.

I was able to fix the bent frame and live with the dented fenders, but I will have to replace the broken brake cable to ride this bike if I cannot get it returned.

Also - the handlebars do not fold down. Therefore, the bike does not fold as small as other similarly priced items available on this site.

I would recommend the silver bike with the Shimano accessories for $129 listed when you search "folding bikes". A friend purchased one recently and it rides nearly as well as a Dahon.

First off all, I think all of the cries about this bike "coming with the wrong instrusctions" and "being hard to assemble" is UTTERLY RIDICULOUS. The bike was incredably easy to assemble, and I never even looked at the instructions. I hope no one else is scared away from this product (like I almost was) because of ridiculous complaints about assembling the bike- I did it in 20 minutes with no bike assembly experience. With that said, I love this bike and the price. The only reason it gets a 4 out of 5 and not a perfect score is because it would have been nice if the handlebar was easier to remove for storage. I just keep the tool that came with it in a pouch strapped to the bike at all times, and use it to remove it when i need to. On my first ride in nyc, it begain to rain very hard. I was able to quickly fold up the bike and hop on a train home. On my way home, I strapped my belt to the bike, and used it as a strap to hold the bike on my shoulders as I shopped in Duane Reade for a few things. I am only 5'8'' and 150 lbs and was able to relatively easily carry to bike on my shoulders as I shopped. I got 3 compliments for my bike on my first ride in the city alone. For this price, there isn't a better value for a bike like this around.

I live on a sail boat 3 months out of the year and needed reliable land transportation for running errands. There are a great many folding bikes to choose from but this one caught my eye as being not only cheap, but it was also one of the better looking folders I've seen. And this, so far has been my experience:

When I received my Stowabike, it needed some minor assembly, I believe the front wheel and fender needed installation, as well as the pedals and luggage rack. It took about 20 minutes to put together. I was surprised to find that the dérailleur was in good adjustment from the factory. I rode it around the block in the snow and then folded it up for the rest of winter. This brings me to my first complaint: The handlebars require a separate tool (included) to collapse or remove.

When summer came around and my family departed on our voyage, I unceremoniously dumped the poor thing into a cluttered side locker on a nearly daily basis. It got ridden every day for this 3 month period as well, and had carried a child on the back for much of it. It did not receive gentle treatment to say the least. One thing you will notice is that things quickly fall out of adjustment when it is folded and assembled. I would expect this from almost any folding bike that uses so many cables. You will want to learn how to adjust the cables on any bicycle you buy, especially a folder. It has a tendency to throw the chain off the front from time to time. I believe this is due to the short chain stays used to make the bike compact, so I can see this happening on any multi-speed folder. When it did throw the chain it would tend to wedge itself between the plastic guard ring and the sprocket. It's easy to put the chain back on, but you might get dirty hands from it.
