Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Eazy-E, the gangsta rap pioneer who died of AIDS complications in 1995, led a life of mixed intentions and results. As head of both N.W.A. and Ruthless Records, he did as much as anyone to bring South Central Los Angeles' problems to national attention, though his music also helped glorify a life of violence, misogyny, and criminality that became a caricature of his neighborhood.

Str8 Off Tha Streetz posthumously releases music from the rapper's final years. Far from being a haunting voice from the grave, the record makes no mention of Eazy's disease--the only deaths here come by way of gun or baseball bat. On the other hand, the album also contains Eazy's spoken defense of gangsta rap ("We're underground reporters...") and some of his best songs. In particular, two tracks co-written and produced by Naughty By Nature ("Nutz on Ya Chin" and "Hit the Hooker") contain memorable hooks and impeccable mixing. --Roni Sarig

5.0 out of 5 stars Godfather of Gangsta Rap, February 25, 2005
By Lalo "Loc" (St. Louis, MO.) - See all my reviews
Let's face it some of us love Eazy and some of us dispise him.
I think he definetely was'nt afraid to speak his mind, and the words that came across to his fans were sincere even at times halarious. The man was a real brother from Compton who basically introduced gangsta rap to America. This is one of his best albums if you ask me, and that song that goes Wut would u do, Wut would u do if we rolled on you! Man ! I think Eazy definetely won the battle he had wit Dre, because he came with real Compton City G'z after Dre Day. And yes Eazy E was sleezy so everyone cited with Death Row, but (wake up) Gangstaz are supposed to be "fool". Also Dre went to see Eazy-E right before he died I heard, now do you still hate him ?

4.0 out of 5 stars Another solid album from the Godfather of Gansta Rap -- RIP, March 24, 2005
By G$ "Z-Wad" (B-More, MD) - See all my reviews

Eazy E died before it was finished but what he did compile before he died made enough songs for another solid album. Guests are on about half of the 11 songs and are his usual guest w/ 2 female rappers on here as well. The songs are about his usual stuff, p*s*y, Drugs, guns, murder and drinking 40's. Production is pretty good, Yella does 5 songs, Naught by NAture & Boibcat each do 2, and Stone & Tony G each do 1. Out of the 11, 1 I skip, 1 is ok, and the other 9 are good songs. A good CD to have for his fans and fans of real GANGSTA rap.

#2 - 9 (f/ bg knocc out, dresta, sylk)
#3 - 8.5
#4 - 8.5 (gets on Snoop and Death Row)
#5 - 8 (f/ dresta & bg knocc out -- about drinking 40's)
#6 - 9 (upbeat dirty song)
#7 - 7.5 (f/ MC Ren -- slow gangsta beat)
#9 - 8.5 (another dirty one)
#10 - 8.5 (about sheisty baby's mama's)
#11 - 8.5 (another gangsta song)
#12 - 8 (f/ dirty red -- gets on Death Row again)
#13 - 6 (f/ dresta, bg knocc out, menajahtwa)

5.0 out of 5 stars Eazy Just Keepz On Doin It, September 15, 2000
By Tyler (Compton, CA USA (TREETOP PIRU BLOODZ)) - See all my reviews
This Is a very sad CD. It was very sadly that he couldnt finish this CD in 94', But thankz tah Yella Boy itz finished. I truly think that this cd was going to bring Eazy E Back in the game Cause he had just brought Bone Thugs ~N~ Harmony to the Rap Game and Eazy E Was in there Hit "Foe tha love of money". There is not one really bad song on this cd. "Hit Tha Hooker" is a Fast song with a nice funky beat, it is probally the best song off the CD. "Gangsta Beat 4 Tha Street" is another great song off this cd, it haz a nice rattle beat in it, itz ah nice little song tah sit back to. The last track on this CD "Eternal E" is SAD and FUNNY cause Eazy E talks and stuff like that, and Yella fixed it up and made it sound pretty good. "Wut Would You Do" is another good song Eazy talks about Deathrow, Dr.Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Daz, and Suge Knight makin fun of them all in this song. This is some of Eazy's finist work and its ashame that he died so early and that it got takin way to damn quik. I suggest if ya dont got dis ya gotta get it if youz a tru Eazy E fan

R.I.P. EAZY E R.I.P. 2pac
