A Good Anti-War Novel,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Straf-battalion 999 (Paperback)
This is a good description of the conditions in the German army toward the end of the Second World War. It is not in a class with All Quiet on the Western Front but still informative reading; particularly for those generations that do not have first hand knowledge of that war. It is fiction but it is not. The characters are ficticious but the situations are not. It is not for those who have read widely on the war in Europe since it does not provide further insight than would have been gained from other, better written works.
