This review is from: Straight Answers, Answers to 100 Questions about the Catholic Faith (Hardcover)
Not just for Catholics, mind you. My parents were 'churched' and baptized, but my upbringing was decidedly irreligious. A hard agnostic, you might say. I have little or no taste for Christian apologetics, and I will perhaps never reconcile with papal infallibility or the short-term real world implications of orthodoxy (the AIDS crisis in Africa, for instance). And yet, anyone with a taste for philosophical clarity, truth or reason can easily appreciate this richly expressive, candid and erudite defense of Catholicism by Father Saunders. The Church's history spans millennia, and what a dark and colorful history that is. I have this grudging respect for the long view, for their clarity and open defiance of moral relativism in a postmodern age. It goes against the grain of the world, does it not? Of course how the world ends or even continues at this rate is anyone's guess, but you can rely on the RCC--they will never doubt the validity of their existence! Seriously, this is excellent reading material for all thinking persons. Highly recommended.
