Before purchasing this record, please be aware that this is a "sanitized" version of the real record. For purists, this would be akin to throwing a loincloth over Michelangelo's David. Those whose delicate sensibilities would be offended by the real record wouldn't like Hank anyway. So why bother? Pass on this adulturated disc and get the real one. Five stars for Hank, only one for the sanitized version for adulturating the original masterpiece.

This is a watered down version of the original in your face, unapologetic, true outlaw country that Hank 3 fans have come to expect. This is a lame attempt at Curb to continue to destroy their artists in the name of the all mighty dollar. I can only believe that they are releasing the ammended version before the holidays to doup unexpecting customers. If you want the real version, do NOT purchase this CD. Hank is true, raw grit. The CD was released the way he intended for it. When coroporations re-release ammended versions, please know that it is not the artists vision. There are currently 4 CDs on Hank3.com that are for sale. All are very different styles and, all are what he visioned. He recorded, mixed and relesed the 4 CDs on his site without interference from corporate music. In my book, Hank 3 is real. He is as real as they come. I don't like my music washed down by an office exec telling me what they think is better. Go get after Hank3.com. Go get the original version of this release. I don't think ole Hank done it this way!!

This is Curb records pathetic attempt to get more $$ from one of the artists who have left their label. It is a stripped down version of what is an otherwise INCREDIBLE album. It was released several years ago to rave reviews, and has been one of Hank III's strongest albums to date. It's rowdy, it's raw, and it is most definitely IN YOUR FACE!! If you don't get easily offended, and would like to hear the ORIGINAL version of this album, please purchase the UNEDITED VERSION. And check out hank3.com for all of his new music that was released on his OWN label. I am not trying to slam Amazon. They have nothing to do with the release of this "sugar coated" version of Straight to Hell. 5 stars for Hank 3...1 star for this ploy from Curb Records to get MORE $$ from someone with whom they had a shaky business relationship. Shame on you, Curb records...SHAME ON YOU!!!

Hank III kicks butt! If you like your music furiously proud and loud'n'dirty then Hank III is for you. The original release of this album is majorly aggressive. It reeks of alcohol and the sweet aroma of gunpowder. Hank's voice drools with honesty and venom. His lyrics are golden spit. The melodies and chord progressions are pure Williams DNA. The instrumental work is stunning - stunning I say! But, you've GOT to get the original version. Then again, if you're a little timid and inclined towards the conservative way of things then this version might serve as a fine introduction to one hell of a writer and and one hell of a band. Mind you, like marijuana, this release could lead you to the dark side where the real parties are going on. Be careful. My 4 sons and my 3 daughters will be better persons for having Hank III haunt them to sleep.

This is a re-release (with some corporate audio "fixing" in it... blech) of a magnificent album called Straight to Hell. Buy that. Hank3 dot com has all original cds and merchandise. Or here Straight to Hell

It's painfully sad that his old record label is still trying to shake money from his art and talent. And to put icing on the cake, they've changed his original songs! Unbelievable.

As stated before, this album is an attempt to scrape a few more bucks from uninformed consumers. Curb Records and Hank 3 were at many disagreements throughout his time spent with them. Search the disputes online and you will learn that this record company and Hank 3 have parted way for these disputes. Furthermore, the album Hillbilly Joker was released after Hank left Curb. This album Curb sat on and held it over Hank's head and refused to release it. Of course they did AFTER Hank was gone and couldn't collect. Hank wasn't too bitter and suggested that if you want to hear it, "Download it for free somewhere."
Hank 3 is an extremely talented and hard working, dedicated artist. Buy your Curb records produced Hank 3 stuff used from Amazon if possible. I wouldn't recommend giving Curb another dime. Even main stream country artists are unhappy with their agreement with Curb. (Tim Mcgraw though he won't comment very far on it) visit Hank 3 dot com and support him directly on his site. And see this man live too. 3+ hours almost without a break.

I am into hard country. Not sure what you would call this type of country. Couple of good songs but most I did not like.
