From Library Journal
The Dolans have shared their financial expertise with millions of Americans through television, radio, and print media. Their latest book is a practical guide to family money management whose stated goal is "to empower you to take care of your own financial future." Among the wide range of topics covered are buying and selling a home; selecting a bank; establishing and maintaining good credit; selecting a stock broker; buying a car; and planning for retirement. Helpful books, names, addresses, and phone numbers of agencies and organizations are provided throughout. The Dolans' guide is straightforward, informative, and well recommended for public library collections.

Add to the Sylvia Porters and Terry Savages of the financial advice world the Dolans, two former Wall Street practitioners who now peddle money matters on radio and TV and in print. Their compendium of tips is far less imposing than any of their competitors'; what they present is unencumbered by tons of statistics, charts, and incomprehensible acronyms. Topics covered range from buying a house (don't purchase it as an investment) and funding a college education (hire a financial aid consultant) to dealing with the IRS (let your tax preparer handle an audit). Money
does matter--and the Dolans provide a benchmark from which to measure initial financial acumen.
