The discovery of the disk sets it all in motion....
Mallory Dawes only wants to escape the horrors of the press with a quiet vacation in France. Instead, trouble follows her, but is she completely innocent? Cutter Smith is determined to find out. As an agent for OMEGA, a top secret government intelligence agency, Cutter has a wide variety of resources at his disposal. What will happen when his interest in Mallory turns personal? Will Mallory understand the reason for his deception? I haven't read a Codename: Danger book in quite awhile. After finishing STRANDED WITH A SPY, I'm wondering why! Merline Lovelace always offers up a fantastic tale of romantic suspense and STRANDED WITH A SPY was no exception. Mallory's plight is one that every woman fears. Sexual harassment is one of the hardest charges to prove, and Mallory is paying the consequences. Her spunkiness despite such horrendous circumstances is admirable. And I'm definitely not sure I would have been nearly as calm as she was after seeing my rental car being washed away, particularly not in a foreign country! Mallory shows she is one cool and collected customer when under fire. Codename: Danger has always been a consistent and fun series, so it's good to see that time hasn't changed that. STRANDED WITH A SPY is an enjoyable, albeit relatively quick, read. COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES

the beigining was a little slow, till you got into the story line. Mallory was trying to get away from the reporters in the USA and went to Paris for a little vaction. Someone put a cd in her bag the smuggler it to a blackmailer, OMEGA got ahold of it and here comes Cutter to figure out what happened. I'm not ruining the ending, by saying what happened.
There is another book to the series "Undercover wife" has some of the people int he that were in "Stranded with a spy".

Very fast paced suspense. Mallory's character was more believeable to me as it was taken right out of the headlines. His character was a little too predictable. I enjoyed the "scenery" in the story and Mallory's adventure to trust again. I read this book in 2 hours, but found in the end I wanted to know more about other characters that were mentoned. Overal it had a beginning, a middle, and an end and was well written.

I enjoyed this book. It's part of a series -- the first installment of it that I personally had read -- and it was a fun series. This is cheesy romantic thrillers done right.

Picked up the Kindle version for free and mostly was glad it was free. As a romance novel, the hero saves beauty routine is decent with a few twists and turns thrown in. But as a spy novel, it is full of cliches and not-so-believeable characters. The main male character Cutter Smith always rises early for a 6-mile run to "clear his head". (Minor spoiler alert coming) He is a seasoned spy/international operative tasked with surveillance on our female lead, Mallory Dawes. Yet within a day, he has made contact with her; within two days, they'd share a bed; he subsequently couldn't explain out of a situation when he blurted out her age. There is also the SUV (Blazer, I think) that goes 0-60 in 3.6 seconds as someone's daily driver (what? Is there a 800-HP engine under that hood?) It goes on.
Like my title suggested, this is a good time waster romance story but you might be a little disappointed if you are looking for a good spy story therein.

Pleasant Read - but lacking detail,

I enjoyed this book on the whole, but felt the characters needed some further development. It is so much easier to relate to characters and subsequently become more involved in the read if they are fully developed in the text. Though not predictable, it was a bit mundane with the progression on the romance between the main characters. A good read if your not looking to get too involved in a book.

For free - I couldn't resist, and was surprised to find that this was not bad. The writing was competent, and though the characters and plot were stock, they were well handled. I never for a moment thought that these were real people, but the story did move along pretty well and made for an enjoyable summer read. I could have done with a little less flag-waving, but I gather that is Lovelace's standard take. I was also grateful that the love scenes were not too frequent or over the top. As far as I'm concerned, they don't add much to the story except to slow it down. I also enjoyed the little tour of Normandy, a part of France I've never visited. I'd like to, after reading the author's description. A surprisingly enjoyable read.

A waste if you ask me.,

this book was so anticimactic, if thats a real word and the proper way to spell it. i founf stranded with a spy boring. something to read if you want to waste time, with an added bonus that it was free. i felt like the ending was rushed with little detail. you can buy the book, but dont feel down if you are left feeling empty.

Tired of being stalked by the media after her sexual harassment lawsuit against her former employer has been dismissed for lack of evidence, Mallory decides a vacation in France is just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately, unbeknown to her, someone puts a CD with highly classified information in her suitcase in an attempt to smuggle it outside the U.S. Airport security goes ballistic when they find the CD and OMEGA, a top secret government intelligence agency, and Cutter, one of its operatives, are called to the picture. Cutter's mission is to follow Mallory and catch her in the act of delivering the CD to the Russian criminal OMEGA believes she's working with, but he soon starts to question if she's as guilty as he thinks. And when his interest in her turns more than personal, things get complicated...
Cutter and Mallory were very likeable characters, and I had no problem believing how quickly they fell in love with each other. She was a bit too trusting at first, but I'm not sure I wouldn't have done the same if I was in her shoes. As this book is part of a series, other OMEGA operatives made appearances in the story and, while they were interesting, I thought some of their scenes were unnecessary - particularly the ones featuring secondary characters Mike and Gillian, who are the H/h in UUndercover Wife (Silhouette Romantic Suspense), BTW. As for the plot, it was well done. The pace was a bit slow in the beginning - as much as I loved revisiting Mont St. Michel, I could have done without the detailed description provided by Ms. Lovelace - but it got better once Cutter and Mallory got together. The ending was a bit anticlimatic and, funny enough, even Mallory thought that, LOL. Anyway, I didn't need to see bullets flying and blood splattered all over the place. All in all, I was pretty much happy with the way things were. |
