Book Description

September 29, 2003
A child is falling from the top of an apartment building. Instead of experiencing a terrifying plunge toward a blunt death, however, Seth Anagrew finds himself descending into an entirely different world: New Earth. What is that strange world of ancient prophecy like? Who lives there? Will he find a new home? New friends? Harps and clouds?? From his sister’s viewpoint Seth will have died in a meaningless accident. But life continues for Roana, who struggles to adjust to a different school and life without her father and now her brother. On New Earth Seth learns that he is related to an influential scientist. Thascal believes the boy’s knack for finding things may uncover a remarkable technology vital to the planet. This journey will bring Seth to the mystery of his missing father, Arthur Anagrew, and to the most important person on New Earth: the Prince.

This review is from: Strange Bright World (Paperback)
The most remarkable thing about Strange Bright World is that it is fiction. Aaron is so eloquent in his description of New Earth that the reader forgets that the place is a figment of the author's imagination. For days after reading the book, I found myself wondering what was happening in the lives of the characters, as if I'd returned home from a vacation and wished to keep in touch with people I'd met there. In his first published novel, Aaron proves himself to be a master story teller with a carefully paced revelation of the plot. Even in the final scenes new details emerge which add depth to the convergence of the two story lines. Strange Bright World is a relatively quick read and can be enjoyed on a surface level, but readers with an interest in theology will appreciate fresh points to ponder in regard to the mystery of life after death. The only thing disappointing about this book is that it does not yet have a sequel...
