This review is from: Strange & Charmed (Paperback)
"Strange and Charmed Science and the Contemporary Visual Arts"

The book is a fascinating journey of how science and art collaborate to bring attention to our health and environment. It describes how illness and toxins affect our lives but it is presented in the realm of aethetics.
Scientists and artists work towards a common understanding and goal though their disciplines are diverse.

The book describes how artist have engaged scientists in an aesthetic pursuit of focusing on every day issues
which affect our lives. Some artists use nature and its fragility as documenting a passage of time.
Some examples also describe body art which documents the transformative process of surgery.

There are, however, extreme examples of an artist using hazardous radioactive materials for aesthetic purposes which need clearance from the US Govt. One wonders whether such a use is justifiable in the name of aesthetics.

I recommend this book.
