This review is from: A Strange Expedition (Hardcover)
I loved this book. I use it with my 8th grade English class to introduce a unit on mythology. It ties in because the characters use their own experiences to explain things they've never seen before. And, true to form, Mr. Twain tells the story with biting satire -- a commentary on the politics of the day. It also pokes fun at science and academia, two of his favourite targets. Amazingly, Mr. Twain has written a book that children will also enjoy. Good characters, fun dialogue, simple plot, but many-layered. It's not too long, so it's an easy read. I highly recommend it.
