Being a fan of female singers, and recently searching out goth related music, I stumbled on the song "Every Day is Halloween" on an internet goth radio show. The price was right on Amazon to take a chance. It turns out that other songs "Never Let Me Down Again", "The Chauffeur" and "I Know There's Something Going On" are also quite good even after multiple listenings. However, some other entries were not to my liking, especially for remakes of songs that are still well known. The bottom line: Worth getting if you can get it inexpensively, and I'm happy I have it.

Indifferently recorded.,

Some of the tracks are a bit interesting, a couple quite good, the rest are lifeless and somewhat boring. I was hoping for a bit more punch but Tina seems a bit too laid back. I have not decided whether some of the songs were poorly chosen or it is the arrangement which is lacking. Much talent, much potential, little delivered.

Interesting but ultimately a novelty item,

This is an interesting set of covers that, while they don't wear thin, start to blend into each other. Very respectable interpretations of "Never Let Me Down," "Black Hole Sun" and "Karma Police." A funny treatment of "Yellow." Not unenjoyable but bears listening only in small doses.

A strange gathering,

Earlier this year I was so pleased to hear that former Switchblade Symphony member Tina Root had a formed a new band called Tre Lux. I always admired her when she was in Switchblade Symphony. I recently acquired Tre Lux's album "A Strange Gathering" a few days ago. Even though I am a bit dismissive whenever artists do a cover album but not in Tre Lux's case. After hearing samples of her cd on the internet, I knew "A Strange Gathering" was going to be something special. Tina Root does a fantastic job of re-interpreting 12 classic modern rock songs including a song by her former band. I really love her versions of "Never Let Me Down Again", "Yellow", "Every Day is Halloween", and "Run". While I loved her unique interpretations on these songs, it would have been nice to have heard one or two original Tre Lux compositions. Hopefully for the next Tre Lux cd, the music will be all original songs.

This record is awesome - even the songs that I thought wouldn't be good were done in a really cool way. I can't wait to hear Never Let Me Down at club.

I am a huge fan of Switchblade Symphony and since they broke up, I have been waiting for lead singer, Tina Root, to showcase her talent again. This CD is worth the wait! Tina's voice has never sounded better. Her choice of cover songs is amazing. Many of which, I actually like better than the originals. Stand outs have to be Black Hole Sun, Yellow and Never Let Me Down...who am I kidding? They are all great! It is great when your favorite artists can grow and explore new sounds and genres. I am looking forward to a follow up CD with original songs next. Can't wait.

iv been waiting a looong time for this album. I have been a hard core fan of her former band switchblade symphony since 2001. i was a but scared of her her new album since it wasnt anything like her old stuff. but as a fan i bought the album, and i can honestly say I LOVE IT! i can still hear a bit of the old tina in some songs, but i love the new sound jsut as much. its a great album. very refreshing and i loved hearing all the songs all the way thru. such a lovely cd to dance to as well. great album for old fans who have been waiting for something new from her. and great for people who never heard of her before! best album i bought so far for 2006!

SHE'SSS BAAAACK!,
This review is from: Strange Gathering (Audio CD)
I finally got my hands on this CD and it's safe to say that Tina is baaack with a vengeance. The album flows together well and with excellent covers of songs from the 80's and today. My favorite tracks are "Never let me down again", "Come away with me", "I know there's something going on", "What's on your mind (Pure Energy)", "Every day is halloween", and "Black hole sun". I love Tina's interpretations of these songs and the beats are pretty awesome. Fans of Switchblade Symphony will enjoy the cuts on this disc. One of the best cover albums I've ever heard. Show support for this great and talented artist.

Tina Root as Tre Lux,

I bought this album with no expectations; it's been many years since Switchblade Symphony's last release. Tina Root has always been the greatest musical influence for mysekf as a musician and I was curious to hear what she had waiting for her fans. I was blown away. I knew this album contained covers only and her interpretations of all twelve songs on the album were amazing. My favourite were her covers of "Karma Police" and "Black Hole Sun." I cannot wait for Tina Root's next endeavor.

What a disappointing album...it's like being in a waiting room, it's irritating and you want it to be over with. I have been a fan since 95 and have felt Serpentine Gallery is the only album with all solid tracks...it's beautiful, powerful and unique. I have been waiting so long for tre lux to put music out and thought they never would. This is a really weak and boring release. Hate the songs she chose to cover too...blaaaggghhh
