something new and different,
By A Customer
This review is from: Strange Generation (Audio CD)
i heard about this band because they are from Detroit and i heard them on the radio here. I first downloaded the 2 mp3s from their web site and was hooked..the song "Strange Generation" is really fun and could be a hit single, but we'll see, they're just starting to promote this album in Europe and then the States will start hearing these guys soon after. overall, the album rocks! i'm a big fan of Queens of the Stone Age, Clutch, Monster Magnet and other hard rock and 'stoner' bands...these guys fit right in with that group, i wouldn't call them "alternative rock" because they don't sing whiny songs and they have more of a classic rock sound than anything 3 Doors Down or Default has ever done. Although i see the producer for this disc was Paul Ebersold...he produced the huge album by 3 Doors Down ("the better life")...so that says alot about this record...excellent producer...excellent production...excellent album. Best songs: Burn You Down, Deep End, Way To Go, Chico.I heard an interview of the Dirty Americans...they were talking about the Detroit music scene (i.e. garage rock - White Stripes, Von Bondies, etc.) and they said "we're not part of that scene or any scene and they don't like us anyways" - so if you're sick of the garage rock sound and love hard and groovin' rock, then you will like this album.

The Dirty Americans deliver the goods the old fashioned way,
This review is from: Strange Generation (Audio CD)
THE BAND: Myron (vocals), Jeff Piper (guitars), Patrick Bever (bass), Jeremiah Pilbeam (drums & percussion). Hailing from Detroit, MI.THE DISC: (2005) 13 tracks clocking in at just over 49 minutes. Included with the disc is a 4-page foldout containing song titles/credits, song lyrics, band photos, and thank you's. The case itself is a tri-fold with colorful 70's style artwork. Recorded at 747 Studios, Memphis, TN - producer Paul Ebersold (3 Doors Down, Sister Hazel, Skillet, Third Day). All songs written by Dirty Americans. The disc is 'enhanced' - featuring a quick bio and "Strange Generation" video. Label - Liquor & Poker Music / Roadrunner Records. COMMENTS: The Dirty Americans deliver straight ahead (slightly) blues infused rock and roll. Some of these songs are right out of the 1970's. Other songs are sandwiched somewhere between the likes of Lenny Kravitz and the Queens Of the Stone Age. The album kicks off with the hard driving "No Rest". It continues with their first (minor) hit "Car Crash"... with its catchy, poppy, toe-tapping hook. The title track is fun and fast-paced as well. As much as the Dirty American's can rock, they can also slow it down. Check out the bluesy heartfelt "Give It Up", "Deep End", and the album closer "We Were Young". I find myself listening to the whole disc - without need to hit the skip button. As many highlights there are featuring the electric guitar, there are some equally beautiful acoustic moments here too. Production is crisp and fllawless. Living in Arizona, I haven't heard too much about the Dirty Americans of late - here's hoping the band can get a break and they catch on! Looking for new music - give this a try (4.5 stars).

Damn, ain't it about time we get back to the basics of good ole RocknRoll??In the beginning I wasn't quite sure these guys were gonna kick it enough to satisfy an old time rocknroller but thier new stuff is totalling jumping!Anyone who is old enough to remember the great 80's bands has got to get there hands on this one.Takes you back and totally lays you out with appearance of the definition of (GROUP ROCK)all over again. The songs rip thru your head like a drill on diamonds. It's not just an artist; it's a full blown band. One could not make it without the other.Well worth the money spent with mulitiple outlets of availability which make this one easy to find. Take a break, spend a few on this one for your collection and enjoy the hours you spend listening. It won't be a one night stand! You will find yourself to be overly addicted to the new pleasures you are about to receive.JUST DO IT!!!!
