Book Description

October 1977
Strange Glory Edited by Gerry Goldberg (1997, Paperback)- It's been 25 years since its debut, but this extraordinary compilation of stories, poems, and illustrations spanned some of the best in short fantastic literature of the 20th Century up until the time of its publication. Its chapters are structured around the parts of a famous Zen fable of a man searching for his missing ox and deal with themes of the nature of reality, life, death, divinity, darkness, light, and transcendance. The text is adorned with lavish quotes and esoteric graphics. Authors, poets, and artists appearing in Strange Glory include H.P. Lovecraft, Roger Zelazny, Jorge Luis Borges, Wallace Stevens, e.e. cummings, Rumi, Virgil Finlay, and Frank Kelly Freas. Truly a collector's item that you will return to again and again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Strange but it inspired, March 26, 2000
This review is from: Strange glory (Paperback)
For Years I have owned this book, and for years Ive been looking through it, finding new things that fit me at the time. This is a book that GROWS with you. The book is sectioned off into 5 parts - dispair, liberation, creativity, new jeruselum, and godhead. Each section is full of stories, poems, quotes and art that relate to the subjects mentioned. Each crevice and space of the book has some sort of creative addition. Each time I have read this book, it seems to relate more and more, but that is because there is something in this book for everyone. I defidently recomend this to ANYONE who has an interest in the oddities of life, and the inner meaning to existance. If you are, you will keep reading this book for years to come.
