5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Eye Opener, November 9, 2010
This review is from: Strange Harvest: Organ Transplants, Denatured Bodies, and the Transformed Self (Paperback)
Wonderfully insightful book on the gift/commodity economy in America. Sharp illustrates the complexities of organ procurement and the relationships donor kin and recipient beautifully and with great detail. Her ethnographic research really puts you in the shoes of the donor kin and recipients. If you are interested in the commodification of bodies and the gift economy, this book is a must buy. I just finished this book in my Biocapital class and it was phenomenal.
