Book Description

June 6, 2007
Dras Weldon is an unemployed college dropout who spends his nights partying and his days recuperating. No one is more embarrassed by Dras' chosen lifestyle than his older brother Jeff, a pastor in their little town of Greensboro. Dras claims that he, too, is a Christian, but his life suggests otherwise. Dras is forced to change, however, when an evil force comes to town and threatens to claim the one thing he loves more than anything - his best friend, Rosalyn Myers. A demon known only as "The Strange Man" has sinister plans for Greensboro and wants Rosalyn for his own. As the demon and his wicked minions descend upon Greensboro, Dras struggles to lay claim to the faith he has pretended to follow. But, after the life he's led, will he be able to convince Rosalyn of the truth before she is devoured by the coming evil? Greg Mitchell lives in Northeast Arkansas with his wife and daughter. He screenprints by day and writes about monsters by night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super FUN to read, June 26, 2007
By
This review is from: The Strange Man (The Coming Evil, Book 1) (Paperback)
This is a FUN book! No, it's probably not ever going to win any high literature awards, but it's a great read and often feels more like a movie than a book. The characters are real, the tone is sometimes quirky and sometimes ominous, and it's just FUN. It's a Christian Horror novel (no that's not an oxymoron), & the horror elements are 100% there, but it also contains a solid Christian message that will ring true to believers and serve as a great introduction to the faith for the curious. While it does contain lots of great scary moments, the book also has sections that are introspective, heartwarming, and even some laugh-out-loud funny moments. It's the first book of a series, too (it's subtitled, Book One: The Strange Man), so there's more to come, & I'm really excited about that. Once again, the best word I can use to describe this book is FUN. Go read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling, January 27, 2008
By
This review is from: The Strange Man (The Coming Evil, Book 1) (Paperback)
I am not a person that reads a lot, so when I bought this book I really didn't expect to finish it. Once I opened the book and read about the auther I became interested and wanted to begin reading immeditately. I probably didn't make it through the first couple of chapters when I put it down, but the next night when I started reading again it seems like the more I read the more I wanted and tried to predict what was going to happen, man was I wrong. This book gave me so many chills. I finished the book that night and wanted more. I can't wait for the next book. It also made me reflect on my own life and how similar this book and my life were. I hope that more people can get this book and receive an experience as I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate good vs. evil!!!, June 21, 2007
This review is from: The Strange Man (The Coming Evil, Book 1) (Paperback)
The author manages to make his characters seem real, with all their faults and quirks. These are people you know!!!, not just some words on a page. He is able to make them come alive. He also presents some interesting ideas about facing our own fears, that really make you think. The reality of evil in our world is shown in the book, with a good explanation of who exactly our enemy really is. There is a beauty and simplicity to the last chapter that leaves a lasting impression---and a desire to know the "rest of the story..."
A good read, with fun thrown in!
