This review is from: Strange Mistresses: Tales of Wonder & Romance (Paperback)
James Dorr's 14 short stories and 13 poems are an interesting combination of horror, subtlety, and erotica. His main characters range from gutsy maidens to men terrified out of their minds. None of the stories are poorly written though I did have my favorites. The poetry is free verse in form and even more subtle than the short stories. It's a good solid collection for anyone who likes to take their time reading and feeling the full weight of horror that builds up as the story progresses.
