5.0 out of 5 stars Finally Jordan gets to sing!, November 12, 2008

Like "Davos", I am also a HUGE Blood Brothers fan. It is by far my favorite band if that says anything about my musical tastes. Jordan Billie and Johnny Whitney are the two vocalists of the Blood Brothers but Johnny is the more or less the lead singer, even if it is unintentional, he has a VERY distinct voice that you hear over Jordan's. Now I love Johnny Whitney and he is my favorite singer of all time but Jordan also has a wonderful voice that I personally didn't get to hear enough in BB but this album is a whole new story. Jordan finally unleashes his voice and he is a great singer. This album is very similar to Blood Brothers but more like a refined version of the early BB, not Young Machetes or Crimes. So basically, if you like the Blood Brothers, this album is an easy buy because you'll like it too. My only wish is that there be more songs on it but it's priced so it's ok.

4.0 out of 5 stars Something Different From the Blood Brothers.......but I Think I Like It, November 11, 2008

I bought this cd the instant I heard about it. I am a ravenous Blood Brothers fan, and as much as I love Johnny Whitney, I knew this cd would be good without him. For those that don't know, this band is basically the Blood Brothers, minus Johnny Whitney, plus a member of Shoplifting.

Upon my first listen, this album took me by surprise. The first track, "Beyond Gone," did not sound like anything the Blood Brothers have ever done (side projects included). Now, after about three or four listens, it is easily my favorite track. It has everything a great song needs. Great lyrics, musical depth and amazing progression.

On other songs, you can find similarities of the Blood Brothers in there: lots of melody change-ups, screaming/singing juxtaposition, and a sense of avant garde aggressiveness. However, I feel like it's the versatility of this album that makes its good. It is unpredictable, and still totally accessible. Most importantly, it is well orchestrated (aka, it just plain sounds good).

I can't wait for a full-length album from these guys.
