Editorial Reviews

Review

"... the characters lived ...the stories ...were a pleasure. Now if he will just ... write some more..." -- -John Dalmas, author of Soldiers, The Lizard

"Smooth entertainment from a born storyteller... believable people in unbelievable circumstances... relax, until he brings out the... drill." -- -Rob Chilson, author of Black As Blood

About the Author

James K. Burk was born long, long ago in a place far, far away. He had as normal a childhood as one can expect from someone who became a reviewer/critic/writer. His favorite job was being a Sunday gunman at an amusement park, in which he usually played either the villain or the village idiot. This is called type-casting. He once visited Israel where he attempted to tune the Wailing Wall (Gee, dad, it WAS a Wurlitzer.) He has no cats with cute names and really doesn't care for dogs.

More About the Author

I was born a long, long time ago in a place far, far away. My favorite job was as a Sunday gunman at an amusement park where I usually played either the villain or the village idiot. This is called typecasting. I reviewed fantasy and science for a review magazine, DeLap's F&SF Review and, later, one called Tangent. In addition to the bibliography, I've also had short stories included in several anthologies: THE FOUR BUBBAS OF THE APOCALYPSE, THE INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF BUBBA, and FLUSH FICTION. I also have another novel to be released later in 2006, HOME IS THE HUNTER, which will be half of DOUBLE DOG# 3

5.0 out of 5 stars A Little Something For Everyone, October 30, 2001
This review is from: Strange Twists of Fate (Paperback)
Suburban vampires, drole wizards, werewolves with marital problems... They're all here in this neat little chapbook of darkly humorous tales by James K. Burk. Looking for something different to read, this is it. Some really great writing, some really great stories. It's like dipping into a bag of potato chips. No way you can just read one.

It's funny, witty and scary all rolled up in one neat little package.

Hope to see a lot more by this writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark, witty storytelling, April 11, 2007
This review is from: Strange Twists of Fate (Paperback)
When you read these stories by James Burk you realize you are in the hands of a fine storyteller. He really is an underappreciated master. Funny, dark and wonderful. This is the good stuff you look for but can never seem to find.
