Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Gr. 10 and up. This collection of articles and essays explores the philosophical and practical aspects of ethical behavior. The first two pieces probe notions of why individuals are motivated to behave ethically, and both, one by Spinoza and one by Nietzsche, will be difficult for high-school students to digest on their own. Overall, however, the book presents in readable form many of the arguments that swirl around the areas of business, biomedical concerns, and education. Within each broad topic, several views, some of them in direct opposition to each other, are presented. For example, is character education in the schools effective or not? Are workers becoming more or less honest? Is cloning ethical or will it lead to profoundly damaging uses that will negatively affect society? This is a successful entry in the Current Controversies series will assist not only debaters but also thoughtful students and adults looking at the issues behind some of today's headlines. This review is from: Strange Visions: Hallucogn Dis (Encyclopedia of Psychological Disorders) (Library Binding)
This book as with other psychoactive information books from Harvard University Medical School are great if you are interested in the history of the substance and just the basics. They are however the product of misinformation and a biased standpoint. I find ignorance is a common trait with these books.
