Enjoyable feel-good performance from a great professional, June 23, 2004
This review is from: Strange Weather: Glenn Frey Live in Dublin [VHS] (VHS Tape)
No colourful gimmicks here, just Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey and his early-90s touring band on stage in Dublin, Ireland running through a number of songs from Frey's solo career, including a few tunes from his then-current album "Strange Weather", and a handful of Eagles songs as well.
The concert is nicely shot, no annoying MTV-like effects, the sound is good, and you get all 18 songs in their entirety, from the soul-flavoured opener "Long Hot Summer" to Glenn Frey's rendition of his and Don Henley's classic "Desperado".
The band includes saxes and a trumpet, but only on the songs wich were originally arranged that way...no big horn-ensemble on "Lyin' Eyes" or "New Kid In Town.
Frey plays slide guitar on a tough "Smuggler's Blues", and performs a lovely, low-key "Wild Mountain Thyme", one of the highlights of the concert.
Other highlights include "Party Town" which has dated pretty badly in the album version, but which really rocks live, and excellent renditions of "I've Got Mine", "The One You Love", and a medley of "Lyin' Eyes" and "Take It Easy".
The Eagles are better at being the Eagles, obviously, but Frey's band is very good as well. A really nice performance.

This is a great concert by Glen Fry in earlier years. You can easily see why he's been so popular for so long.

Strange Weather: Glenn Frey Live in Dublin [VHS], October 12, 2011
This review is from: Strange Weather: Glenn Frey Live in Dublin [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is an easy review. 2 Reasons:
#1 Pay attention when you buy music and make sure it is a CD, DVD, or "VHS".
#2 Great Album
I did not pay attention and got the VHS version, however, I explained I had my head up my rear when I ordered and did not pay attention to what I was ordering and I got the VHS version. I do not have a VHS and frankly do not know anyone who has one anymore less my Dad and a few friends back home. I got a full refund and a big laugh from the sender.
