Portia Da Costa is a multi-published British author of romance, erotic romance and romantic fiction. Her novels have been published by a variety of different houses, both in the US and the UK, and translated into many languages including German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian and Japanese. Best known for her many novels for the pioneering British erotica publisher Black Lace, she has gained high praise and a strong reader following for her intense, sensual, character-driven fiction and the vivid emotional depth of her novels and stories. She enjoys writing books with contemporary, paranormal and occasionally futuristic settings, and is now beginning to venture into historical erotic romance too.

Portia has been writing for publication since 1990, and has had over twenty novels published and around 100 short stories. She has contributed to many different short story anthologies and women's magazines. In addition to her long association with Black Lace, she has recently begun writing short erotica for Harlequin Spice Briefs, and in future will also be writing full length erotic romance for Harlequin Spice.

Portia is a member of Romance Writers of America, the Passionate Ink RWA Chapter, the Romantic Novelists Association [UK] and the Society of Authors [UK].

Portia lives in the heart of West Yorkshire, UK, with her husband and her cats. When she's not writing she enjoys reading, watching TV and movies, hanging out on Twitter and Facebook, and online life in general. She was formerly a librarian and has also worked in local government.

Wow! This book was really hot! All I can say is, I would LOVE to find a guy like that wandering around the grounds of my estate. Their early encounters are perfect -- taut with the uncertainty of the unknown, the forbidden, but still with a strong erotic charge. And things only get better as each explores previously-hidden, or forgotten, passions.

Where in the world were women like Claudia a few years back when I was young?
Portia da Costa has done it again with an erotic account that veritably sizzles as the pages are turned. Claudia, recently widowed, comes upon a young man skinny dipping in the creek of her English countryside estate. Rather than throw him off her property she finds it much more exciting just enjoying the view as he enjoys the solidtude and flexes his muscle.... LOL
Of course a late night thunderstorm finds the stranger on Claudia's doorstep where he passes out from fear, confusion, and of course we later find, amnesia. Yummie or what .... 'Come in said the spider to the fly' comes to mind as Caudia takes him in and lets the poor boy rest to recover his energy. Needless to say Claudia has a very very strange bedside manner if she wanted him to recover ... if you know what I mean ..
The author spins a tale that keeps our interest as the Claudia awakens to a new and hidden part of her sexual awareness that was very much so surpressed during her blissfull married life. The greatest thing is that this is now one of the few English erotica books that the characters are able to taste the fruits of the flesh without having to beat the living daylights out of each other first or even use kitchen utensils to get it on .....
So it's also hardly a surprise that this 1997 Black Lace printing is 'sold out' and you can bet Im not selling my copy either ......

I found this book to be very refreshing in the fact that its central character is a 40 something widow, and not some bimbo that no one can relate to. I absolutly could not put this one down the first time I read it, and I still get enjoyment out of it many times after that first read. I think the Black Lace Series is truly a step ahead of the competition when it comes to writing women's erotica. Ever time I can, I try to expand my collection, and you should do the same. And then, introduce your friends. Their sure to love it as well!

I was excited to read this book after the great reviews that it got (now I question their authenticity) so I ordered it and had to wait three weeks for it to come from London. I wish I'd saved my time and money because both were wasted with this book.

**Spolier Alert**
A widow goes for a walk and sees a naked man bathing in a stream. She watches him as he washes and masturbates. Later that night he shows up at her house and surprise he's got amnesia! She takes him him and sleeps with him, then he slowly makes her see that all of her women friends are in love with her and want her, so why not?! Let's do them too!

Give me a break. Within the first chapter I was wondering what I'd got myself into. The prose is terrible. The main character is a total idiot and the story is just so incredibly stupid. The idea of sex with a nameless stranger is a great starting point, but that's all she has here. The way she developed it was ridiculous. It was like she had a list of sexual positions and activities and she was going straight down the list ticking off boxes.
Don't waste your time or money on this crap.

Since I own the audiobook of Entertaining Mr Stone and find it absolutely delightful, I was hoping it was indicative of Ms De Costa's overall style. This book is ok; well written, grammar and syntax mostly good, dialogue acceptable, but I found it just... ok; certainly not particularly, uh, stimulating. YMMV, but I would have been happy to remain a stranger to The Stranger.
