Silhouette Special Edition April 1, 1995
Bodie Smith's discovery that he fathered a son 17 years ago starts him on a search that leads to a Wyoming ranch, where he finds young Pete part of the warm and welcoming Weston family. That was the easy part. Complex doesn't even begin to describe his relationship with Pete's beautiful and wary adopted older sister Cambria. The sparks between them are real . . . and so is the danger if she finds out why he’s really in Wyoming.

More About the Author

My readers say my books are "warm and witty", "down to earth", "poignant", with characters who "live and breathe" and "hit the sweet spot" of "laughter and tears."

I hope you'll find all that in reading the e-books I'm now offering through Kindle and www.AWritersWork.com

As for me, I had a great Midwestern childhood, though I did run away from home once - heading for Hollywood. Alas, Dairy Queen came before the train station, seriously depleting capital. Otherwise I surely would have been the only Oscar-winning screenplay writer under ten.

Instead, I followed the normal education track: BA and MSJ from Northwestern. Not quite as normal (especially way back then), I became a sports writer. It's great training for writing - dialogue, character, motivation, conflict, goals. All that went into my Winter Olympic-set "gold-medal winner" THE GAMES (www.patriciamclinn.com/games2010): Medals can be won, careers can be made, hearts can be lost in the sixteen days of the Winter Olympics.

Plus, I didn't have to get up early.

After being a sports writer for the Rockford (Ill.) Register Star and assistant sports editor at the Charlotte (N.C.) Observer, I moved to the Washington Post. That's when I started writing novels -- it all has to do with dried wallpaper paste. (For the full story, see www.PatriciaMcLinn.com)

A couple decades there and 25 books published, and I headed back to the Midwest to write full-time and enjoy the unfolding twists and turns of my plotline.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Romance, October 28, 2010
I quite simply loved this story.

Ms. McLinn has managed to create a wonderfully realistic story about the complexity of relationships, especially the relationships of the heart. I found myself deeply involved and caring about both her main characters, Bodie and Cambria, as their love and trust in each other developes.

If you enjoy a truly heart-warming romance, this book will not disappoint.

I have never read a Patricia McLinn book and have no clue why. However, this book has made me a fan. The story is well written and the characters well developed, they have depth and some suspense to it.
I loved this book and recommend it hightly. I loved the character "Brodie" and the others as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really didnt love it...., September 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I decided to try this book since it was in the first position in the romance free bestsellers list....I cant say I loved it like the other 2 reviewers, by 20% of the book I wanted to quit, so instead I went to sleep... I started reading again and seriously felt bored up until half of the book. The second half is not bad it actually kept me interested. The story is about a succesfull and a bit overcontroling business man that after 16 years finds out he had a son. After finding out he decides to go an see for himself how the boy is doing not really knowing what he'll do next. This journey takes him to a Wyoming working ranch as an early guest in his sons family board house. His sons sister Cambria is a very distrusting person ( she had some love problemes before which made her this way) and is suspicious of him from the start.... I really didnt like her character she was mean to him from the start so I can really understand what he saw in her...... Anyway the fisrt half of the book is about him trying to get to know everyone in the family with out spilling the truth to them and Cambria trying to get him as far of them as possible, because she dosnt trust him. There is this attraction between them but she basically dosnt want to accept it. I wish there was more action maybe more humor, something to make this part a bit more interesting. The second half is better you get to see them giving up to the attraction and to further understand them and see how the secret spills out. Overall and Ok read.
