Linda O. Johnston's first published fiction appeared in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine and won the Robert L. Fish Memorial Award for Best First Mystery Short Story of the year. Since then, Linda has published more short stories, plus seventeen romance novels, including the Alpha Force paranormal miniseries for Harlequin Nocturne. Alpha Force is a covert military unit of shapeshifters, and the most recent book in the series is ALASKAN WOLF.

Linda is also the author of the new Pet Rescue Mystery series from Berkley Prime Crime which debuted in March 2011 with BEAGLEMANIA. What a delightful adventure story. The myth of the mountain lion provides a wonderful backdrop. Descriptively written, you can almost picture yourself in the outdoor setting. The romantic element is only a small part of this well-written tale, and there are unexpected elements. This is a modern romance novel, involving a female lawyer who finds herself attracted to an ex-con mechanic. This is a fast paced and enjoyable read. The storytelling includes a number of dichotomies, including past and present, old and young, desire and restraint, and ultimately, freedom and survival. The ending is a bit too sweet, but most readers will probably like that.
