Book Description

Jake Kelly is Chicago's conservative mayoral candidate. Heir to a dubiously obtained real estate fortune, he's had a hard time convincing people a generous, caring heart lies beneath his cold demeanor. Recent polls have him lagging behind his more family oriented Democratic opponent and his main problem seems to be Chicago's large Hispanic constituency.

Keila Diaz is a warm, sassy, left-leaning violinist of Hispanic descent. She's struggling to make a career out of her passion for playing the violin in the city she loves.

Keila needs more work and Jake needs a consultant. When a friend brings them together to come up with a music program for the city's public school system as part of Jake's plans for education reform, sparks ignite and combust. Jake ignores he'd already met Keila once before and Keila follows his lead.

When photos of the two of them dancing close at a festival mysteriously show up in local media, things get complicated. Voters love the idea of Jake and Keila together, but they have it all wrong... or do they?

Editorial Reviews

Review

"...if you're after a sweet yet sensual read, Strangers In The Night is for you."
Magical Musings Review

"It was the first time I read a book by Ines Saint but I am without a doubt a fan girl from here on out."
Harlequin Junkie Review

"As these two strangers dance, they forget the world and become lost in the music, their emotions, and each other. They don't know how different and far apart their lives are, and they don't care. When the night comes to its inevitable end, they decide to remain strangers. They're not ready to explore their startling chemistry. But, as time passes, neither can forget their singular night at Chicago's SummerDance Festival. When they meet again..well, opposites attract makes for plenty of heat and fun."

Good book. Fun. Easy reading. Clean. Good plot. Romantic without the lurid sex scenes. Nice way to lull away an afternoon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh, yeah! April 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is yummy! Having just visited Chicago for the first time and falling in love with her, I was delighted to find a story that promised to take me back and show me more. I was not disappointed. Through details small and large, Ms. Saint deftly introduces her readers to the pulse of the city and the people who make her hum. Two of those, Jake and Keila, are also richly portrayed through humor and passion and, yes, politics. Yikes, that alone might've caused me to toss the book, but that bit of information came after these two met, and just as they were hooked on each other by the end of that first meeting, I was hooked on them. Sparks fly, mistrust abounds, and yet passion always brings them back, and more than that, a growing respect, each for the other, will not be denied.
I purchased this book online and have given this review freely and without monetary compensation.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one I'll re-read March 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was not familiar with this author, but thought the description given of the story line was one I would enjoy. I was not disappointed. The plot seems quite contemporary...with the conservative candidate for mayor of Chicago and a delightful, sassy Hispanic woman who shows him why he needs to learn more about his city.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flirtatious and Sexy March 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sometimes I think my reviews might be a little generous with as many 5 stars as I give out, but I think this book deserves it. I spent a whole evening reading this book and enjoying every moment. I loved the main characters, Keila and Jake. They had their faults, but the development of their relationship was real and romantic. So many romance novels have the characters following in love over the span of two days which is pretty ridiculous. This love story builds and grows and you're left with a very lovely and satisfying ending. The author did a great job and I would definitely recommend this book.

I completely adored Ines' Saint's romance, Strangers in the Night. I read it in one day...absolutely could not put it down. She has a poetic writing style that is smooth and natural. "She laughed like she danced, with abandon." Gorgeous.

Jake is career driven, purposely reserved and pressured. Keila is emotional, talented and wears her thoughts on her sleeve. The sexual tension and attraction between the two of them is contagious. I highly recommend this adoring story!

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked this one February 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Quick and fun novel. 4.5 stars...not quite 5. Purely out of self preference and belief there is always room for improvement. However, if you enjoy romance, the chase and all your emotions challenged, this is the book for you. Loved being back in Chicago again and was able to visualize the scenery. I really enjoyed the development of each character and the spicy storyline (note - this novel is not full of sex scenes). It reminded me a little of ugly Betty, but without all the snobby fashion world. Even if you have never been to Chicago or any large city, you will still enjoy this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun book January 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I would have given this 5 stars but I felt it lacked some level of depth. I just wanted more. However, it was a very fun read and I would read further books from Ines Saint.

Okay, I'll just go all fan girl. I love, love, this book. I come from an area where racial divides do make a difference in party politics. (Did I mention I'm a poly sci major?) Jake Kelly is the best kind of hero, conflicted. And Keila is a woman with her own life and filter on how she sees the world. No wonder fireworks happen when they're together, good and bad. Ines Saint has brought together two characters from different worlds and brought them to a believable happy-ever-after. Looking forward to reading more of Ms. Saint's work.

Note: I was provided an ARC for review as a professional courtesy. No monetary or other compensation was involved.

More About the Author

A little bit about me: I was born in Zaragoza, Spain and have moved approximately twenty times. I went to school in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Puerto Rico and I'm bilingual and bicultural. I've spent the last ten years raising my fun, inspiring little boys and sharing my life with the man I'd always dreamed of. My greatest joys are spending time with family and close friends and coming up with characters and interesting situations.

Why I began writing: I've always had stories in my head; it just took me a while to figure out I should put them on paper. When I was little I'd look at JC Penney catalogs and make stories up about the 'families'. I'd give the parents strange professions and the kids wacky character traits.

As a teenager, I'd write my close friends letters and include little stories about their future: how they were going to have kick-ass careers and end up with the boys they were crushing on. Some of my friends kept these letters and I was able to read them again some time ago... it was a bittersweet experience. In real life things don't always go as planned. I think this is why we read romance novels. When you read a true romance there's a promise and commitment that will be kept.

I'd love to hear from you! Please email me at ines.saint@gmail.com
