Intelligent songwriting, outstanding performance,

Patty Larkin is an inspiring musician. Not only is she an incredible live performer, but her artistry continues to improve with every CD release. Larkin is not your typical run-of-the-mill coffeehouse chanteuse with a guitar. She is an astonishing singer/songwriter/guitarist, energetic and eclectic in her rhythms and moods. Her musical explorations spin around the world, and she continues to create vibrant, intriguing songs. Also check out her latest release "Regrooving the Dream". Patty Larkin is a satifying listen, kind of like finally finding a really good, smart novel. She is a rarity, very cool and hard to come by.

Patty's best!,

For me, this is Patty Larkin's' highpoint - a flawless album superbly written, fabulously sung, and extraordinarily well played. Song's like "Open Arms," "Carolina" and most of all the excellent "Me And That Train" open up a world of exciting new possibilities for the first rate singer/songwriter - possibilities continued on the excellent follow-up "Perishable Fruit."

Astounding.,

I came late to this dance, not long before the 10th anniversary of the release of "Stranger's World." It was one of those CDs I've been meaning to get around to; now I have, and I'm glad I did. Every song on this album is enlightening and enjoyable; "Open Arms (Don't Explain)" along with "Me and That Train" are incomparable.

I have always loved this CD and was heartbroken when it was stolen from my car. I am so glad to have it back in my collection again!

This is probably the best album Larkin has made so far; elegant melodies, superb guitar playing, very good voice, all this is mixed in an extraordinary collection of songs.
Buy it with confidence.

A classice that withstands the test of time,

After 1st listening to this album 14 years ago, I had forgotten how great it is. Larkin's prominence as a remarkable singer songwriter and accomplished guitarist is well documented - but unless you are tapped into the folk scene, her 25-year music career may be new to you. Strangers World presents Larkin at her best - never one to lean heavily on the `singer with a strumming-acoustic-guitar' thing, the songs here quietly breathe, creating a spacious, sometimes rhythmic, elegant environment that gracefully withstands the test of time. GENRES: Contemporary Folk, Mellow Rock.
MUST HEAR TRACKS: "Closest Thing," "Open Arms," "Italy," "Mary Magdalene."

Disappointing,

After being so impressed by Tango and Angels Running, I was SO ready for another great album. But, Strangers World just didn't do it for me. It was missing the interesting rhythms of the other two, and, frankly, there was nothing on it that grabbed at my feelings the way I know she can. I've put it away and then tried again several times, but it's still the earlier two I reach for!

"Stranger's World" is a solid album that ranks among Patty Larkin's very best. It features some of her best songwriting, and while these songs are arranged and produced in a manner that might seem a bit odd at first to longtime fans used to her more basic material, it also expands Larkin's horizons to the point of confirming that she is one of the most important talents in the singer/sonwriter genre.
