Book Description

Edmunds.com Car Buying Guide Strategies for Smart Shoppers October 15, 2003
In the Internet age, Edmunds.com has emerged as the foremost authority on buying or leasing new or used cars. A key component to learning the industry's insider secrets involved sending an Edmunds.com editor to work undercover at multiple car dealerships. That information, along with knowledge gleaned from countless buying experiences and numerous dealership sources, has been honed into step-by-step buying and leasing strategies. Many car-buying books give tips and advice, but this book outlines proven buying scenarios, clearly explaining the consumer's course of action in simple terms.

This complex and sometimes frightening process is demystified in a guide that covers the following subjects:
* How car buying has become easier and faster than ever before
* How to choose the right car for you
* New car-buying strategies
* Getting a used car bargain
* Avoid leasing pitfalls and getting a good deal
* Insuring your car for less money

5.0 out of 5 stars $2,500 under invoice!, November 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Strategies for Smart Car Buyers (Paperback)
I'm a car nut so I buy a new car once every two years. I have just resigned myself to being ripped off. But this time I decided to do something about it. I bought this book because I always go to Edmunds.com for reviews etc. It was a quick read and the 10 steps are great. At the dealers, I always knew what was going to happen next. And I was ready for them! I was shopping for a new Chrysler Pacifica and got it at $2,500 UNDER INVOICE! The book says car buying can be easy and fun. I didn't believe it. Until I did it myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the Big Picture, February 21, 2005
This review is from: Strategies for Smart Car Buyers (Paperback)
If you plan on buying a new or used car soon, get this book. It is the essential reference to the various elements of automobile acquisition. It is also a convenient guide to the invaluable resources of www.edmunds.com. The book helps you plan and make a rational informed decision about the various aspects of automobile ownership, including: financing, insurance, trade-in value, and getting rock bottom pricing on the actual car purchase. I saved thousands of dollars on my last car deal. Read this book, get liberated from being an obsequious cog in the wheels of the auto dealership industry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST for anyone buying or selling a car., November 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Strategies for Smart Car Buyers (Paperback)
If you thought you knew how to "handle" and negotiate your way around a car lot, boy, have you got plenty to learn. This book is a MUST for anyone who is going to buy a car. Not only did I learn the 'lingo' but also how and where to do my research. This book is worth its weight in gold. I was looking to buy a new car and had gone shopping. I was frustrated and overwhelmed at the dealers. I bought this book, read it over the weekend, went back to the dealer and knocked 'em over. Their "stand firm" quote to me the previous week was turned to ashes with the power and knowledge from this book. I saved over $5000 dollars on a new car. That was a 15% savings. Thank you Edmunds.com!
