Individual chapters present a wealth of tested ideas and recommendations with regard to syllabi, peer-response activities, course management, suitable curricula, and much, much more. A point-by-point practical guide, Strategies For Teaching First-Year Composition will prove to be an immensely valuable resource and reference for anyone charged with the responsibility of teaching composition on a secondary school level or in adult education courses.

The short chapters in this book are packed with excellent information. I highly recommend this book to anyone entering the teaching of writing as a career/hobby (LOL... if you're an adjunct, that's all we can really call it if your level of pay is similar to many institutions).

The chapters are written by authors whose names I see frequently on the WPA listserv, so it's like reading work from dear friends.
