You Don't Have To Be A Shark To Be A Success In Business

Although you don't think of yourself as a shark in business, you are smart, ambitious, and want to succeed. With the challenge of the Information Age looming large on the horizon, your adaptability to change, your search for the elegant solution to every kind of problem, your desire to work with the system and with others toward a common end, defines and shapes your perspective. You don't need the killer instinct. Your talents, your coping skills, your intelligence will help you succeed in the changing world of tomorrow.

Your dolphin personality -- flexible, responsive, accepting -- represents precisely the attitude that successful managers must adopt. In Strategy of the Dolphin, the authors, innovative business experts, demonstrate that everyone will need to be a dolphin to survive the changes the future will bring. They speak directly to your needs, to your management style, reminding you that your way is perfect for your temperament and goals.

Strategy of the Dolphin will enable you to develop your creativity, break through obsolete thinking, and act upon your own compelling visions. Of course dolphins like to win, but they know that others don't have to lose at their expense.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Animal imagery in business books is in vogue, e.g., in Harvey Mackay's Swim with the Sharks ( LJ 4/15/88), Albert J. Bernstein and Sydney Craft Rozen's Dinosaur Brains ( LJ 4/1/89), and now in Strategy of the Dolphin. This is a "how to manage better" book, written by two members of the Brain Technologies Corporation, a corporate consulting firm. The "elegant sense-making" of dolphins is the favored middle ground between the winner-and-loser view of "sharks" and the don't-make-any-waves view of "carps." Even though the underlying theory is covered in many other books, the combination of metaphor with illustrations and quotes by famous people might appeal to certain clientele more than other "drier" works. Recommended for large business collections serving the general public.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dolphin book has stayed on my credenza for years!, September 3, 1999

This review is from: Strategy of the Dolphin: Scoring a Win in a Chaotic World (Paperback)
The Strategy of the Dolphin has been an incredibly influential book in my career. Concepts like "do what you fear" and "talk about HOW you're talking about it" are part of my everyday thought. The metaphor of the dolphin works very well: an animal that can outsmart a shark! When something isn't working a Dolphin does something different! That's a great lesson for life.

5.0 out of 5 stars All leaders must have in their library, October 24, 2004
I have read the book many times and I see new perspective every time; I bought many copies of the books for my best friends and my best enemies. I spoke so much about the life changing effects the book had on me that all the copies in my library are all on loan and I could not get them back again.

5.0 out of 5 stars from chaos to clarity with dignity and grace, March 3, 1999

This review is from: Strategy of the Dolphin: Scoring a Win in a Chaotic World (Paperback)
I first read Strategy while I was in the "recovery trough" The analogies, stories and explanations of what happens to everyone in life and business let me realize that the process can be managed if it can be anticipated. Lynch and Kordis make it much easier to understand where you are in the process and how to formulate your strategy to stay on top of your game. (or get to the top of your game if you're in the dumps)
