5.0 out of 5 stars The Dolphin book has stayed on my credenza for years!
The Strategy of the Dolphin has been an incredibly influential book in my career. Concepts like "do what you fear" and "talk about HOW you're talking about it" are part of my everyday thought. The metaphor of the dolphin works very well: an animal that can outsmart a shark! When something isn't working a Dolphin does something different! That's...

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to continue reading
This book, though perceived valuable by a few other readers, is a tough book to get through. It is such a slow read that I couldn't read it carefully and thoughtfully after the first hundred pages - I simply skimmed the rest. There are many many many other behavioral books that use real-world stories to get the point across that there are different types of employees,...

The metaphor of the dolphin works very well: an animal that can outsmart a shark! When something isn't working a Dolphin does something different! That's a great lesson for life.

5.0 out of 5 stars All leaders must have in their library, October 24, 2004
I have read the book many times and I see new perspective every time; I bought many copies of the books for my best friends and my best enemies. I spoke so much about the life changing effects the book had on me that all the copies in my library are all on loan and I could not get them back again.

5.0 out of 5 stars from chaos to clarity with dignity and grace, March 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Strategy of the Dolphin: Scoring a Win in a Chaotic World (Paperback)
I first read Strategy while I was in the "recovery trough" The analogies, stories and explanations of what happens to everyone in life and business let me realize that the process can be managed if it can be anticipated. Lynch and Kordis make it much easier to understand where you are in the process and how to formulate your strategy to stay on top of your game. (or get to the top of your game if you're in the dumps)

5.0 out of 5 stars A life-changing book, June 7, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Strategy of the Dolphin: Scoring a Win in a Chaotic World (Paperback)
This book provides value as a business strategy guide (for which it was written) and a life success guide. Lynch and Kordis have created a framework for understanding the actions and motivations of people at a very simple level (sharks, carps and dolphins), and they offer clear tools for managing communications and conflicts. At a deeper level, this book provides a roadmap for understanding the maturing process of individuals and organizations, as they progress through the common challenges of learning and achievement -- from separating from our safety zones to gaining judgement and influence over the business and personal systems in which we exist. A fabulous book for anyone who is looking for a fresh perspective and genuinely useful tools for personal achievement. Years after I first read it, Strategy of the Dolphin still is one of my business and personal bibles

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous book that will be of benefit for years to come., March 12, 1999

This review is from: Strategy of the Dolphin: Scoring a Win in a Chaotic World (Paperback)
I read this book when it first was published because I was in an executive position with a not for profit organization. Throughout the years I have referred to it and each time it has revealed another secret in my life style. I loaned it to a friend and never got it back, so am now buying my second copy. Truly a keeper whether it is used for business or success in your personal endeavors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to continue reading, June 10, 2006
This review is from: Strategy of the Dolphin: Scoring a Win in a Chaotic World (Paperback)
This book, though perceived valuable by a few other readers, is a tough book to get through. It is such a slow read that I couldn't read it carefully and thoughtfully after the first hundred pages - I simply skimmed the rest. There are many many many other behavioral books that use real-world stories to get the point across that there are different types of employees, bosses, leaders. This book does it in a repetitious and slow fashion, causing me, the reader, to have to set the book down after less than an hour of reading because of how boring and difficult the metaphors and wording was to read completely through. Not only was the authors writing difficult and not to the point, but the mention of dolphin, carp, shark scattered throughout this book was just plain boring. It may have a good lesson, but so do other, more enjoyable books.
