One of my favorite games
I was introduced to Space Empires III back in college, and I have been hooked ever since. It's easy to learn and fun to play, even for people who don't normally like strategy games (like me). SE5 ups the playability with newer and better graphics and more tech trees. Also, I like how easily people can make their own maps/mini-games, as well as all of the options for...

buy sword of the stars
this game is a mess. I bought the boxed version when it first came out if you like 4X games get sword of stars its much better

I was introduced to Space Empires III back in college, and I have been hooked ever since. It's easy to learn and fun to play, even for people who don't normally like strategy games (like me). SE5 ups the playability with newer and better graphics and more tech trees. Also, I like how easily people can make their own maps/mini-games, as well as all of the options for customizing your game experience in the game itself. And it is amazingly replayable, because your endings will never be the same. With options for quick games, more extended single-player games, multi-player online and via hotseat, the versatility can't be beat.
