Once installed, the scanner works quickly and easily. But the manual is terrible. The instructions for installation and operation are incomplete and ambiguous. Here's sentence typical of the English translation: "Have manual 'Calibrate' while the first time you use your Digital Image Copier." The trouble-shooting instructions are useless (basically they tell you to uninstall the driver and try again, but this time follow the instructions, stupid). And there's no contact info for technical support. I got it running after about 90 minutes of trial-and-error and now am happy, but if you have a short fuse you might wind up chucking the whole thing.

This is really a camera in a back lighted box. It is much faster than a scanner. Each picture takes only 6 seconds. The software that comes with it (Arcsoft) works well and automatically improves photographs. I had to shut off the anti-virus software to avoid interference.

Bad Product,

The manual is terrible, poorly written, and not enough information is in it. The scanner is terrible. When the slides come into view, they are good, but the scanner keeps processing and totally overexposing pics, with faces totally whited out. You can't even take a snapshot when the pic looks good, it just keeps going. The slides are not overexposed and show up fine in a viewer, so this scanner is a total piece of crap. What a waste of money. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I'm looking for something that will actually do the job and, unfortunately, it's probably going to cost 5 times what this does.

Driver installation failed,

Unable to install driver from either provided CD or website download. Computer locks up at driver installation. Apparently software is incompatible with my machine: Compaq R4000, AMD 64 Athlon, Windows XP SP2. Numerous reviews suggest device is sound, software is poor.

My aunts own this piece of trash.
It wouldn't work on their desktop (USB 1.0 not the required 2.0), so I tried it on their laptop (has USB 2.0, Vista). Still wouldn't work and I couldn't figure out why without really doing some digging. So I took it home to my computer to try it. (Win 7 64bit, ......) After installing the driver, driver patch for 64 bit OS, and software it worked on my computer. I am being generous with the word "worked". It WAY over exposes EVERY slide I put in it. Inside/outside whatever. When it first sees the slide the brightness is almost right, but then it turns it up, and up, and up, and up. Until the entire slide is washed out white. "Calibration" doesn't fix it. Other reviews that I have found when somebody could get this thing working all have same issue I (my aunts) am having. I would give this thing negative stars if I could, or at the least a zero.

don't bother,

As others have said, it overexposes most slides. It is fine when it starts but you do not have enough time to copy it before the overexposure. For those it worked for, quality is fair at best. If you are looking for something to make digital copies that can be made into prints, etc., find something else. I'd love to hear recommendations.
