The quality of the paper is great.
Hetal Vora
It does not absorb to much of the water, and yet it looks great with the colors being applied to the paper.

Cold press, not hot, so dries a bit more slowly and provides some "workability" time. The price is certainly right, and colors show up beautifully. Only thing I don;t love is the fine-grain texture. I like a bit more space between the pits and valleys of my watercolor paper.

We --my kids and I-- do lots of wet-on-wet watercoloring, and this is just the paper for that. My kids can paint and re-paint the same sheet (pre-moistened) for half an hour and still the paper keeps its form. The finished paintings using this paper are then perfect for subsequent projects of making crowns or paper boxes or paper doll base figures... you get the idea. Multiple uses for every single sheet. (don't forget to paint the back, too!)

I love this quality of paper, and will probably order more! Plus the shipping and service were great and fast as well. I love this kind of paper because it can really take some abuse when I use it for mixed media...great deal here!

Ok it may be not an Arches paper but it is definitely a great one for its price; never get discouraged with watercolor papers because depending on the brand but in the same category they are all different and it is just a question of time to adapt and get used to the paper. I use this one to make my journal entries and i really like its smoothness and texture, and moreover I think it is pretty resistant (when I put it in under the faucet and fix it on a wooden board, let it dry and prepare it to be painted). I like the fact that it does not dry too fast so i can work on my skies. You can also make grattage without any problems but once it is dry...!!!!It is one of the papers i buy regularly.

The quality of the paper is great. Multiple wet coats of paint are sustained by it without any issues. Strongly recommended.

Strathmore watercolor paper is my favorite because even the 'lighter' papers still can take some abuse and layers of paint with minimal buckling. It's also good for other mediums that work well on toothier paper (like colored pencil) Have repurchased before and will repurchase again :)

I bought this because I read all the reviews and don't have a lot of experience with watercolor paper. I've tried some cheap stuff and those kinds of watercolor paper don't even work half way as decently as cardstock. This paper is thick, absorbent, and I don't have much problem with warping (and I use a LOT of water). Another GREAT point is that if I really mess up a piece (I cut mine into greeting card sizes) I can just let it dry and use the reverse side, getting two/for one! It does not leak through!!! Downside: it can be tough to cut through using a guillotine cutter the farther away from the blade attachment (or closer to your body from the cutter). I get around this by flipping the sheet over and cutting up to the already cut line. Another experience I have learned recently (remember I am new to watercoloring) is that since the paper has very compact fibers, it takes a while to absorb colors. I'll see if it will let me upload a picture to show you the difference. I wanted to try the technique of using gelatos on top of a background stamp. Then I sprayed a lot of water over it and waited a bit for the colors to absorb water before laying the paper over this. The 1st generation didn't take - it just showed the ares of gelato colors without any blending. I resprayed water all over the stamp without adding more gelato and waited a bit more. Then I laid another sheet over this and held it on approximately the same amount of time as the first one. The 2nd generation turned out beautifully!!!! The colors blended together into a soft, floraly garden type background. I couldn't have been more pleased. Anyway, this is just one technique. Regular waterpainting over a generous wash created stunning blends of striking colors depending on the amount of watercolor paint used. The cut pieces dry well and I have no problem attaching them to card bases using Scor Tape. Enjoy your art journey!!!
