I was hesitant to purchase this grill, since there were no reviews for it. It looked good and had excellent specs, but I couldnt find a review anywhere on the web. But I risked it, and I am very happy that I did.

The grill came packed in a big box, excellent packing. It could fall off a truck and still not have a dent or mark. The packaging was excellent, and the instructions were very good. All the parts were labeled well, and the unit was easy to put together. It took me about 2 hours total.

I am impressed with the quality of this grill. Everything is 304 stainless, except for the sides and back of the cabinet. All the stainless had plastic covering to avoid damage, and it was in great condition.

The burners are great also, and it has porcelean covered cast iron plates.

It is easy to wheel around and the castors are large and turn easily.

It heats up to 400 degrees very fast, but also cools down fast. Everytime I open the lid to turn over the meat it cools a lot, but then it heats fast again, so thats ok.

The only thing I dont like is the top bun warmer. When you flip it up, it allows for better access to things on the rear of thr grill. But if you forget to put the warmer down again, the lid wont close. Not a major thing, but it bugged me the first couple of times I used it. Now I just remember to lower the warmer 1st.

Overall, this is excellent value. I did a lot of shopping around in stores, and am very happy that I got this.

The price includes shipping.

Happy Grilling!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Grill for the money, May 15, 2006

Got this for a great price on the Friday sale. Took three hours to put together including about 40 minutes to unpack. Carton had to have weighed 170 pounds and all components were packaged well - but still found a dent on one of the cabinet doors.

Nice burners and great starters on this grill. Heavy lid with a nice temperature gage.

Would have like for the cabinet of the grill to be stainless like the lid and working surfaces. As the grill sits on the deck, you mostly see nothing by the black sides and black of the cabinet from the yard. Hard to know it is stainless unless you are the cook.

The heavy cooking grates look like they will last for a very long time.

Has a very nice setup to catch grease with easy cleanup. Much better than the Charbroil 9000 that this grill replaced.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good.., June 14, 2006

I was lucky enough to grab this on the Friday sale for $299. In my opinion it is much better than any other grill I looked at for that price-range. Its very solidly built, and was easy to put together. I'll agree with others on the quality control - a minor thing for me - one of the grates was a little "jagged" on the bottom so it doesn't sit totally flat and rocks a little. No big deal, but I'll see how the return/replacement department works next week.

One thing strange is that my cabinet doors are stainless steel and not painted (4 burner model).

Can't comment too much on the cooking - i mean it works. So far what ive cooked has come out great, and I haven't noticed any "hot spots", so the heat-distribution is even. I'll know more at the end of the summer.

I ordered this grill for my father for a Christmas present. On Christmas morning he opened it and two pieces of the grill were damaged. Additionally, there was no hardware included. The grill looked as if it had been previously returned by another customer. We never removed it completely from the box.
I contacted Amazon immediately. I have sent four emails and made two calls about returning the item. I have received the following two responses: 1) since it is a gas grill and is used for hazardous materials, it can not be transported. (Again, we never completely removed it from the box--so obviously we did not use it); 2) we could keep the grill and get a 20% reimbursement since it is damaged and missing parts. (I am not even going there.)

There is supposed to be a 30 day money back guarantee. Obviously, they are not going to honor their guarantee. I have ordered many, many, many things from Amazon and I have never returned one item. It looks like a nice grill if you can get one that is not damaged and not missing parts.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good grill poor quality control, May 18, 2006

This review is from: Strathwood 4-Burner Gas Grill with Painted Cabinet and Side Burner (Lawn & Patio)
My old charbroil was on its last legs so I gambled on this grill, even though there were no reviews. My overall impression is positive thus far but there seems to be a real lack of quality control at the factory.

First the good: Assembly was fairly easy and took about two hours. The box it ships in is very sturdy and everything was packed securely and tightly. Each component was individually wrapped. The directions are written by someone fluent in English (always a plus) and are easy enough to understand. I like the battery powered lighter and hope it is durable enough to last the life of the grill. The cooking grates are plain cast iron (not porcelin covered as another reviewer mentioned) which provides a good cooking surface.

The bad: I had numerous parts that were dented or bent. The worst was the cabinet doors which had deep gouges all over the vinyl covering (the doors are NOT painted as the description says but have a white vinyl covering). One of the hinge posts was bent almost 90 degrees from where it should have been. The doors were wrapped in plastic and the tightly bound individually in cardboard. There was NO damage to the packing materials, the damage had to have existed when the doors were packed in the first place and a blind man could have seen it. In the end, I simply peeled off the remaining vinyl and exposed the stainless underneath, which is probably a better look. Also, the doors are lower grade magnetic stainless that will rust easily (probably the reason for the vinyl) while the grill head uses better non-magnetic stainless. The frame is not stainless at all.

Thus far I have only cooked burgers and chicken breasts. There were some flareups with the burgers as the heat distributors could do a better job redirecting the grease but it was nowhere as bad as my old grill. I will see how it handles leg quarters soon, that will be the true test.

If you look at the Strathwood five burner grill don't assume the only difference between the two is one less burner. This grill does not have the sliding LP tank holder or the spice rack that the five burner offers. Also, I just saw that Sears is selling the same grill head on a different frame with different side tables/side burner.

Overall a decent grill for the money I paid but someone at the factory needs to seriously look at their quality control department.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Grill, Great Price -- Read to help find missing parts!!, March 16, 2007
This review is from: Strathwood 4-Burner Gas Grill with Painted Cabinet and Side Burner (Lawn & Patio)
I got this grill last year when Amazon had it marked down to 300 and free shipping. There were no issues shipping, and almost no issues building it. I was missing a part, however. The top of the cabinet is supposed to have a piece that spans the cabinet and has two magnetic stops for the cabinet doors to latch to. Mine was missing or so I thought. The piece wasn't vital to the operation so I just blew it off and started using the grill...well, I found the missing part after a couple of times using the grill. The magnets had stuck to the grill cover on the inside front lip...not sure how I missed it, but I did. I searched for the part for over 2 hours and it seems silly now, but if you have this problem don't forget to check inside other parts for what you are missing.

Great grill, no problems in a year of use!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Overall, Some Controls Need Work, August 13, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Strathwood 4-Burner Gas Grill with Painted Cabinet and Side Burner (Lawn & Patio)
I was attracted to the price of this product and was concerned about some problems folks expressed about the shipping condition. The grill arrived without a single blemish. It took me the better part of an afternoon to assemble it (probably closer to three hours than two). The instructions were clear, except that the same instruction booklet also refers to the five-burner model.

After assembly, I used the grill to cook some chicken. It cooked up so quickly the outside was done way before the inside. I attempted to restart the grill and could get only one burner to flame up well. I later discovered that either the regulator is faulty or there's a problem with my LP tank. Now, each time I start up the grill I need to re-set the regulator into the LP tank valve to make sure I get a good vapor lock.

I have also noticed that from the high setting to the low setting, the flame does not vary much. My controls may need some adjustment as a result.

The grill looks great, heats up to 600-plus degrees very quickly (with all burners on high), and does a great job cooking burgers (with only two burners on). I still need to figure out if I have a bad regulator or a bad LP tank and it looks like I need to adjust the burner controls. Beyond that, this grill is an excellent value at less than half the price of what I'd find in something of similar quality of materials elsewhere.

Product was well packaged, but there was a small dent on the lid of the grill. As I assembled it, I realized that I'd been shipped 2 right-side panels instead of a right and a left.
As a result, I had to drill a total of 8 holes through metal to complete assembly. Directions were excellent, installation should take about 2-3 hours & I was able to do it completely by myself.

Now that it's together, it's a quality piece of equipment. If I didn't have to modify the thing, I'd have given it 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great grill, better service, July 17, 2006

The grill is beautiful. Great size, cooks great.

The service was even better. I recieved the grill and it was damaged. Using amazon.com I reported the problem and they sent another out right away. They also scheduled for the damaged grill to be picked up. I put the damaged grill on my front porch for pickup and some dirty criminals stole it before they picked it up. I called the cops and they came out and took my information and gave me a case number. The new grill arived in perfect condition. I reported to amazon.com that the other was stolen. I was told if it was rcovered to return it and was not charged for the stolen grill.

The best part is the criminals didn't even get all the pieces because the box broke open as they were running away with it. And it was severely damaged to begin with or it wouldn't have been on the front porch. I hope they were injured when they dropped it.

Thank you amazon.com.

4.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT GRILL, August 25, 2006
This review is from: Strathwood 4-Burner Gas Grill with Painted Cabinet and Side Burner (Lawn & Patio)
I found the grill very easy to assemble 45mins and I was ready. The first time I used the grill, I was pleased with how even it cooked and how accurate the knobs are. On the grill I had prior the knob would show Med High and the burners would be on High. The grill runs circles around the high dollar Weber I had before.
