I think this umbrella is quite goodlooking and has many features for the great price. Set-up was super easy and I like the fact that the pole and ribs are resin, and not wood. My old market umbrella was wooden, and it dry rotted after 2 seasons. If I have anything to complain about, the first would be the cost of shipping. The ad says Strathwood products are available exclusively through Amazon, yet it did not qualify for free shipping. I thought the $20 shipping fee was very high and really cut into the value of the product. Also, the instructions could have been a little clearer. I could not figure out how to make the umbrella tilt, until I cranked it all the way to the very top and it suddenly tilted. The little paperwork that was included states to visit www.amazon.com/strathwood for "care and maintenance information". The only thing that I found was a vauge PDF file which was included with the umbrella and shows only set-up, no care or maintenance information to be found.

This 8 foot Market umbrella is so easy to use. Great for anyone with arthritis that would have a hard time turning the handle to open or close the umbrella.

I purchased this umbrella to accompany the Strathwood Falkner Chaise Lounges. The Chaise is a pewter aluminum color, I was disappointed that the umbrella pole and arms are brown. It does not coordinate at all, with the other items in the Falkner line. I ended up spaying the brown parts black, so it works for us now. The mechanism and the quality seems OK for the great price, so all-in-all, I would buy it again!

I ordered this umbrella thinking it would be a neutral canvas or beige color. I got the umbrella about one foot out of the box and said "ewww". it is sort of a yellowish beige color. Really ugly. Back to Amazon!

This is a great looking umbrella! The mechanism for lowering and raising is smooth and takes no effort to operate. I bought the cream color and it matches perfectly the patio set that I already have.

Just put up this umbrella yesterday after thinking it over for a couple of days. Like the previous reviewer who mentioned the "ugly color", I did not like the color at first glance. It was not what I had envisioned for my space: I tend to prefer cooler neutrals/beiges. I would call this a dark cream color, with maybe some yellow, maybe some pink undertones? It's not a classic "beige"; it's almost peachy. Hard to describe.

BUT, I ended up keeping it, and happy I did. The umbrella is solid and handsome. Much better than our last wooden market umbrella. The kids are thrilled with the tilt at the top, and the crank works perfectly.

As for the color, although it would not have been my first choice, I don't think it IS ugly, in fact. It looks much better outside. It is lovely and bright on a sunny day. When it's open, it glows in the sun. Very cheery. It also matches our bistro table perfectly, so that was another reason it worked for us. If I'd had any lingering reservations about the color, I would have returned it, but I really am pleased with it.

Bottom line: if you prefer cool colors, this may take some getting used to, but you might be glad if you give it a chance. If you like warm colors, you'll be delighted. And if you have a stucco-style house in sunny Florida or California, this is a no-brainer.

I was so disappointed with this umbrella. I know its a great price, but I was at least expecting it to work. The umbrella was made mostly of plastic and when I put it up to use it, it broke! I am not sure if mine was defective, but it is not worth purchasing regardless. I did get a refund without any trouble, so I am happy about that! This was the only piece of the set that was not good. Everything else is great.

I purchase this item back on May 28, 2010, it work find until August 3, 2011 when I when to crank the umbrella open the cord broke inside and now its useless. I only got to use the umbrella for 8 months all together. This item is not worth the high price if it only will last a little over a year. stay away.

I bought this model because it is supposed to tilt. The tilt mechanism is there but it won't engage. The only instructions that came with it are how to put the poles together. No manufacturer contact information is available. The info available takes you back to Amazon. Perhaps this one is defective.

Am very pleased with my purchase of this umbrella. It is in perfect condition and was received in a timely manner.
