Handsomely designed and built to last, this cushioned chaise offers a modular style that can be used on its own or in concert with other pieces from the Strathwood Balboa outdoor furniture collection. Create a sectional arrangement with the center seat and corner seat from the collection, which also includes an ottoman. The chaise is constructed of a dense and highly durable hardwood with a fine-sanded, oil-stained finish in a warm, mahogany brown tone. It features blocky, square chair footings and a wide, slatted construction on its seat and back. The chair offers a gently angled seat back on which to recline. It measures 61.6 inches long by 27.6 inches wide, with the back rising 33.1 inches tall from the floor. It weighs 52.9 pounds. Assembly is easy, with all parts and hardware included. The chair comes with a 4-1/2-inch-thick seat cushion with a durable, heavy polyester canvas cover in a natural tone, as well as a 4-1/2-inch-thick back cushion with Velcro fasteners that loop through the slats.

Cushion Care and Cleaning: Gently brush off dirt before it becomes embedded in the fabric and wipe up any spills as soon as they occur. Gently spot clean only with mild soap and cool water using a sponge or soft brush, then air dry cushions in a sunny location. Bring cushions indoors during inclement weather and store in a dry place when not in use.
Please note that upholstered items purchased on different occasions over time may have a slight variation in hue. There is the potential for variation in the hue of any fabric, depending upon the light source in which it is viewed. For outdoor fabrics, sunlight is the source textile manufacturers use to verify hue accuracy. In addition, a slight variation in hue is normally expected between rolls of like fabric, since no two can be produced to come out exactly the same.
Crafted from durable, Earthy-friendly eucalyptus hardwood, this furniture is intended for outdoor use in all weather. A beautiful hardwood comparable to teak and with excellent weather-resistant properties, eucalyptus is dense and naturally resistant to rot and insect infestation. Certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), there is no doubt about the responsible production and consumption of this wood. The rapid growth of eucalyptus trees makes them more readily available and more easily affordable. In addition, furniture constructed of eucalyptus is light enough to move easily and requires no oiling unless to maintain a desired look.
Left untreated, eucalyptus will weather when exposed to the elements, turning a soft shade of silver/gray similar to the weathering of teak. In addition, when untreated, natural splitting or cracks will appear, but this will not affect the durability of the furniture. To guard against this weathering process and to maintain a desired look, apply coats of a hardwood oil. The frequency of necessary oil applications depends on the intensity of the outdoor elements. The furniture has already been oiled prior to packing, and it is recommended that an oil treatment be repeated at least once a year. Giving the furniture an extra treatment before exposing to rain will prolong the “new” look and ensure a longer life.
After eucalyptus furniture has weathered, it can be restored if desired by sanding down the surface, cleaning it, and then applying oil to prevent more weathering. To clean it, mix one tablespoon of bleach, five tablespoons of a gentle dishwashing liquid, and a gallon of water, and gently scrub the mixture on the surface of the wood with a soft bristle brush. Rinse the solution from the furniture, and allow it to dry completely in the sun. Developed for use in high humidity, the furniture is best not stored in centrally heated areas, as that could lead to excessive drying out of the wood.
Wood that becomes saturated with water and left over an extended period without drying out is more likely to warp and rot. The bases of furniture legs are probably the most vulnerable when it comes to water damage. If wood furniture is kept in the grass, at the poolside, or on a surface that collects rain water, the legs can become saturated. Covering the bottoms of each leg with rubberized material or small sections of cedar fencing material will help protect furniture from rotting from the bottom up.

I have the Balboa Collection; the corner piece, armless chair and the chaise, and have been very happy with it. I have had it for over a year on my patio and think that it looks great, the perfect piece for enjoying summer outdoors. The wood has held up well, there are a few places that it has split but nothing major and they are barley noticeable, mainly on the bottom of the legs. This occurred during winter since I live in a place with a lot of moisture I figured not storing the wood indoors could affect it, and was pleasantly surprised with the minimal amount of splitting. The cushions have held up well too (I bring them inside during the winter to store them) and are very comfy. The depth on the pieces are good for relaxing and the chaise is great to stretch out and read in the sun. I will mention that the chaise is not long enough to lay completely on your back and not have your feet hang off the edge, but it is the right size for reading while sitting and stretching out your legs. The ottoman has come in very handy as an extra place to stretch your legs if another person is sitting in the chaise portion or I have used it without the cushion as a cocktail table to put the wine and cheese on. Overall I think that the Balboa collection is a great item for my yard and am very happy with the quality and price.

I ordered 4 pieces from the strathwood balboa set (armless chair, corner chair, chaise and ottoman to form a sectional) and I LOVE them. I checked out a very similar sectional at Pottery Barn for over $3000 and I'm so glad that I bought this one instead. It arrived on time, in great condition. Amazon service was incredible when one of the pieces was held up, they made sure it arrived on time. It was relatively easy to put together, but did require a little muscle. Once assembled, it is rock solid and really great looking. The cushions are very firm and look terrific in cream, but wont stay clean for long. I don't think they are weather resistant but the whole set is so affordable. I think I'll dye them a taupe or chocolate color to hide the wear. Great furniture, great service, great buy!!!!

I live in a funky attic space that has a lot of character and charm but comes with a lot of angles and a regualr couch wouldn't work but this chaise is perfect. I've decorated with colorful down pillow and a throw and it looks great. This piece has a very firm thick mattress where the other outdoor chaises didn't. If the back of this one reclined it would have received 5 stars!
