They have added a drain hole to the bottom of this pot, to take care of the standing water issue. It is easy to use and really looks nice!

Hosed...,

While this pot is fairly attractive, I was very disappointed at the poor craftsmanship. There is a seam around the circumference of the pot that is so poorly welded that daylight shows through. I believe it's just a matter of time before this pots splits in two. This was definitely not worth the money.

Well, I only used the hose pot a couple of times so far. I purchased it late in the season. It looks pretty and for the price was a good deal. Water does seem to sit in it so I think I will drill some holes for drainage. You still have to coil a hose into it so it's not easy like a reel but it is more for looks which is what I wanted.

Don't be fooled--It is not made of copper!,

The product features says, "Handmade of copper by skilled artisans in India; copper deepens with age to a warm golden patina." It is definitely not made of copper. It is iron with a copper finish which looks nice while it is new but the pot gets covered with rust when it ages.

I've seen similar products for nearly twice this price so I feared I might be disappointed with the appearance and/or the quality once it arrived. That was not the case. The product exceeded my expectations. My only complaint....there is only one small drainage hole so water tends to collect in the bottom. That said, there is an easy fix to the problem(simply drill a few more drainage holes) and you can't beat the price.

This hose holder is just as easy to use as the other ones on the market, but it actually looks nice! Most people don't even know it is a hose pot until they go over and look inside.

Not a copper hose pot,

Ordered one of these at the end of last summer and saw mixed reviews regarding the finish but the price was good for something functional and attractive. It is not fair to use the word "copper" in the description as the painted finish is more taupe than copper. Yeah, I know, "taupe" is a color I have only seen used to describe women's panty hose and a paint choice Volkswagen used dozens of years ago, but it fits in this instance. It is more of light brown with a purple hue. It arrives with a white-ish gray appearance that looks more like a protective coating for transit than a final finish. It also flakes off in large chunks and the metal underneath immediately rusts. If you need a functional hose pot you can get something made of plastic for far less money. If you want something attractive - this is not going to meet your needs. The picture accurately shows the shape of the pot but the color/finish in the photo is misleading at best. The description says "copper finish" and I did not expect a hand-hammered solid copper pot at this price. I have come to expect amazon to "deliver the goods" over the years but buying this product w/o getting to see it in person was a mistake.

Very nice copper finish. Good size, large enough for reasonable length hose but not too big for hiding in landscaping. Has withstood outdoor environment all summer without loosing finish. Drain holes in bottom. Light weight but still sturdy.

I love this hose pot. It looks great. The seam could use more reinforcing, but it's held up very well and I give it a pretty good workout.I bought a 120' hose so I wouldn't have to purchase two 50' hoses to reach across my yard. I was worried it wouldn't fit, but it fits perfectly with room to spare. I hated the look of the reel I had before, it always leaked and it could be a "reel" hassle to wind up. Knowing the trick to coiling a hose made using this hose pot much easier. Keep water pressure in the hose with a nozzle of some sort while you coil it into the pot, then turn the water off and release the water pressure. It coils much more easily. I haven't had any problems with water collecting in it as others have in their reviews and it's rained alot here recently. Perhaps they've solved that problem. I highly recommend it! |
