4.0 out of 5 stars Nice but...
I ordered four coleman propane torches [great product] and decided to try out these oil laterns for something a bit more decorative near our outdoor sitting area. The design is very attractive in person, unlike many copper lanterns these are full height, decent weight and well proportioned. In fact, everything about them is quite nice except the stake -- the stake has two...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor manufacturing
Bought six of these last week. The threading on the poles was terrible and a few of the threads were stripped. I had to buy threaded inserts and a tap to put decent threads in the poles so they would go together. The lid on the lanterns is poorly threaded as well an many of the caps on the lamps do no tighten. Don't waste your hard earned money on them. spend a little...

I ordered four coleman propane torches [great product] and decided to try out these oil laterns for something a bit more decorative near our outdoor sitting area. The design is very attractive in person, unlike many copper lanterns these are full height, decent weight and well proportioned. In fact, everything about them is quite nice except the stake -- the stake has two prongs which make it very easy to step down on and insert into the soil/other BUT when filled the lanterns tend to feel a bit top heavy due to the height. Since these are oil filled [versus the propane canisters of the other] I was hoping for something a bit more steady but instead, this set feels like it needs additional support. Otherwise, an attractive set for a nice price.

I got these torches for my husband last summer, and we keep loving them every time we use them! They are very nice on they eyes, and much more durable than the disposable ones that you can buy from your local hardware store. Our only complaint was the wicks - which is an easy fix - You need to buy new ones anyway once they wear down, so buy different ones. We use these with citronella oil and they work wonders keeping the bugs away from our patio.

I haven't experienced any of the comments above about the week posts or wobbly/top-heavy situations. We have a toddler who runs around the backyard, and I am very comfortable that these are not going to tip (unless provoked to do so).

Highly recommend them. Much more reasonable option than purchasing from the high end catalogs...

3.0 out of 5 stars Stake Cone Lanterns, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Strathwood Basics Set of 2 Garden Stake Cone Lanterns with Brushed Copper Finish (Lawn & Patio)
The brushed copper finish of the lantern is beautiful. Unfortunately, 2 of the 4 stems had defects. I was unable to put them together the way they were intended. I ended up with 4 laterns of varying heights (one being too tall). I didn't return them because it was the day of my BBQ. Also, the laterns were over priced.

The poles are pretty weak and wobbly but other than that we really like the torches.
