Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

This set of five handsome barbecue grill tools makes a terrific gift for the outdoor chef. Each utensil consists of a business end constructed of polished, heavy-gauge stainless steel attached to a beautifully curved rosewood handle that is sanded to a flawlessly smooth surface. Finger and thumb grooves on each handle provide leverage, while a loop of either leather (on the tongs) or stainless steel allows hanging within easy reach. These are very durable, well-constructed tools.

The longest utensil in the set is the 20-1/2-inch spatula, which features a 3-5/8-by-4-1/2-inch head that ends in a sharp beveled edge for releasing steaks that may be stuck to the grill. The 20-inch two-pronged fork and 19-inch basting brush work jointly for holding meat on the grill steady for the slathering on of barbecue sauce, while the 18-inch pointed and toothed tongs pick up even small shrimp or vegetables. After the party's over, the 18-inch grill cleaner swings into action, with its durable brass-wire brush and rigid scraper to remove all food debris and tidy up the grill for the next barbecue.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slanted Tongs are Awkard, July 21, 2006
By
Rebecca N (New York, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Strathwood Rosewood Handle 5-Piece BBQ Tool Set (Kitchen)
My parents bought this set, and paid far less for it than I did for a much "higher quality" brand.

I don't notice any quality difference between their set and mine. This set is fully functional, and the all important scraper holds up just great when I'm scrubbing caked on residue off the grill.

I'm not thrilled with the tongs. As you can see in the picture, they are slanted to a pointed edge. In the description, it says this is to help you pick up small pieces. All I know is that it's really awkward to flip steaks and burgers and shish-kabobs with it (I always prefer tongs to a spatula for this). I end up twisting my hand to compensate for the slant on the tongs. It's just weird and not ideal.

Do a search on Amazon for "Barbeque Tongs" and you'll see that the more well-known brands all have straight-tipped tongs. I guess they, like me, think a straight tip is more functional. I guess someone at Strathwood decided otherwise.

Besides for the awkward tongs, this is a great set at a bargain price.

3.0 out of 5 stars utensils not that great..., August 28, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Strathwood Rosewood Handle 5-Piece BBQ Tool Set (Kitchen)
Feels heavy, looks good, and performs well. The brush utensil, though, left behind its shards of 'brushes' as I used it. That's what kept this score low. Purchased the grill, utensils, rotisserie, and cover at the same time. See my other feedback for those items. This is a 'decent' set of 'tools' but you might do better at your local store.

Very impressive quality, strength and appearance. I've seen a lot less for sale for a lot more money! Keep it up Amazon!
