4.0 out of 5 stars Attractive lights
I'm on my third set of outdoor lights, so I have some experience with what works and what doesn't. I deliberately waited over a month to rate these to see how they performed. So far, the amount of light produced is excellent, despite the fact that I have them placed by street lights and exterior wall house lights, which can tend to reduce the output of in-ground lights...

3.0 out of 5 stars Look the Same - But Not the Same as Description
These lights look exactly like the pictures shown. However, the clear lenses are NOT glass, they are PLASTIC. In what should be a plus, but isn't, each light actually has 4 LEDs not one. However, unlike any similar garden lights I have seen, the LEDs do not extend down from the solar panel in a center capsule, but are recessed into the top. This diminishes the lateral...

4.0 out of 5 stars Attractive lights, July 15, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I'm on my third set of outdoor lights, so I have some experience with what works and what doesn't. I deliberately waited over a month to rate these to see how they performed. So far, the amount of light produced is excellent, despite the fact that I have them placed by street lights and exterior wall house lights, which can tend to reduce the output of in-ground lights. The appearance is attractive, and they are larger than many lights of this type. My lights are placed near steps up to the house, in flower beds, so they are watered regularly and have held up; I will update this review when the lights fail, as all of these tend to do over time. They lose a star with me because of the stake, which is long enough, but still is plastic versus metal, which goes into the ground and holds better. With these plastic stakes, be sure to thoroughly wet the ground before driving them in because otherwise they can break right off (ask me how I know).

September 10, 2011 update: As of this date, and despite the continual watering of them, all of the lights continue to function just fine. I cracked the plastic top of one of them, which was my clumsiness, but it didn't take much force to do it.

This diminishes the lateral spread of the light and actually makes them less useful than some lights with fewer LEDs.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lamp unto my feet, November 18, 2010
This review is from: Strathwood Solar Garden Path Light, Stainless Steel, Set of 6
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I've had these lights for several months now and have been pleased with their performance. The hood on the lamp keeps the light focused on the ground, creating illumination for the walkway without lighting up the whole landscape. The design is attractive and unobtrusive.

The lenses are plastic, not the advertised glass. I'm unsure how this will affect the longevity of the lights, but I think this creates a difference in value of the lights and therefore ought to be corrected in the advertising. The instructions were simple illustrations that failed to mention the location of the light switch (after several long moments, we located the black switches against the black housing inside of the light).

The first shipment arrived with one of six non-functional. Amazon service was excellent as usual, and now I have six working lights.

They aren't real bright to begin with, and later in the evening they dim noticeably. I'd say this technology is still immature. Not recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as described, August 24, 2010

I ordered these lights before the review about the advertised glass being plastic was posted. Amazon should change the description to match the product so that customers will be informed about the quality of the purchase. I was disappointed to see they were plastic since the description clearly states in many places that it is glass.
