Attractive, but be prepared for problems during assembly, May 24, 2008
This review is from: Strathwood Talbot Hardwood Adirondack Chair and Ottoman (Lawn & Patio)
I have put lots of furniture together and as a hobby build large wooden model airplanes, so I thought putting this chair together would be a cinch. If I had it to do again, I would not buy a Strathwood product.
Would not recommend this chair unless you are prepared for and have the tools for:
1. Drilling new holes in the correct place - could not assemble the way some of the holes were drilled.
2. Substituting your own hardware (i.e. carriage bolts, washers, nuts, etc) for the cheap hardware that came with the chair - the hardware has allen-wrench heads. Some of the machining was so bad that the hardware was unusable or stripped easily, so I needed to substitute. Not very attractive finished product with unmatched hardware.
3. Using your own allen wrenches to assemble - the 2 wrenches that came in the kit were of soft metal that did not last through the assembly process.
4. Using a clamp (like a medium size C-clamp) to pull the pieces together to assemble. Some of the wooden pieces were so warped that I had to clamp them together to get the hardware to work, otherwise the bolts were too short.

Good Luck!, June 8, 2008
This review is from: Strathwood Talbot Hardwood Adirondack Chair and Ottoman (Lawn & Patio)
Poorly machined, absolute junk hardware (not stuff you're going to pick up at a hardware store, so be prepared for improvising a lot of substitutions), wooden parts need to be tweaked into position, but decent and comfortable once you somehow get the thing assembled. Amazon doesn't stock replacement hardware, but they offered a discount as one of the options. I'm sorry that a decent, well-priced product turns into an assembly nightmare over a simple lack of quality control - really didn't need to be that way.

Adirondack deck chairs, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Strathwood Talbot Hardwood Adirondack Chair and Ottoman (Lawn & Patio)
The chairs are sturdy and appear to be well made. They should withstand the test of time and the outdoor elements.
Assembly was a bit ticky since the instructions don't make any suggestions on the order of assembly. Turns out it doesn't matter since no way was any easier than another.
All in all I'm happy with the chairs and would recommend them to others. Good product at a good price.
