The crank is sturdy and works well to open and close umbrella.

Within days of placing it on my deck, we had a moderate wind which snapped the pole in two places.

The fabric is not too thin, the metal rods seem sturdy, the pole is nice and heavy.

While the product description says this has a cast aluminum pole, it is really an extruded aluminum pole that is only slightly heavier gauge than a beverage can. Within days of placing it on my deck, we had a moderate wind which snapped the pole in two places. My older umbrella actually has a cast aluminum pole and has withstood years of heavier winds. This product would be a nice accent in a greenhouse, or some other indoor application, but it should not be used anytime there is a possibility of wind.

Umbrella broke the 2nd day it was on my patio.
MILD wind snapped it off and the "metal" bracket broke off.
Supposedly has a 1 year warranty.....not getting any help from Amazon/"Strathwood"

It's seems like a well-built umbrella, but within a day of putting it up, the hinge lock button broke inside the hinge, so it just flops over now. What really annoys me is that when I called Amazon to report the problem, they said that because I ordered it just over 1 month ago, they won't replace it, and I need to deal direct with the manufacturer. Unfortunately the manufacturer is in the UK, and apparently has no US presence. That is very poor customer service from Amazon, and means that if there is a problem outside 30 days from purchase, then you have no warranty.

UPDATE May 03

Following an email complaint, Amazon decided that they would "make an exception" and issue a full refund, as strangely enough the product is suddenly unavailable. That's better customer service, if somewhat late. It also now appears from a bit of research that Strathwood is an Amazon label (the UK Strathwood turned out to be a publishing company), which makes this situation really ridiculous. What's more, the Amazon customer service reps I talked to were trying to get me the contact details by searching with Google. That does not inspire confidence in Amazon customer service.

This umbrella has great size, gives good shade coverage. The tilt feature works very well and the wind hole in the top actually works. This is a great value for the dollar.

This umbrella is a really nice umbrella for the money. The fabric and quality seem really nice, the pole is aluminum, which seems flimsy, but it was stable even when it was breezy. The problem we had with the umbrella was the tilt mechanism. Although the umbrella description doesn't say it has this feature, it does, and ours broke after having it up for a few days. We had the umbrella up and went to tilt it and the spring in the tilt button popped out and then the button itself broke and popped right out. We searched the yard thinking it could be repaired, but the metal button was sheared right off. Now the umbrella won't stay upright as the entire top portion wants to tilt over since there is no spring and button to keep upright. We did get a full refund from Amazon, but I think we'll try a different umbrella the next time around. My husband, being the handyman that he is, is trying to come up with some way to salvage the umbrella and keep it in an upright position as it is a nice umbrella and there is nothing wrong with the rest of it.

Large, stable, easy to open, heavy, attractive material.

I've only had the umbrella for a month so I don't know how it will hold up over time, but it looks great for now.

We purchased the umbrella in late March but only began using it a couple of weeks ago. After only a few uses, the button on the tilt mechanism broke off making it impossible to hold upright. It's made of the cheapest white metal. Now it's useless junk! We will attempt to get a refund but aren't optimistic. Next time we'll read all the reviews before purchasing anything. But we're done with Strathwood and with Amazon.com if we don't get a satisfactory resolution.

This umbrella has 8 arms - two more that the POS it replaced. Yes, the umbrella is a tanish khaki color, and the metal ribbing is grey, not colored like the picture. I'm adding a picture of my own so you can see it with the Strathwood Bainbridge Cast Aluminum set we also bought on Amazon. Looks great!

The umbrella cost $59 and it is my favorite of the two umbrellas purchased. It lets just the right amount of light and air through. The light khaki color doesn't get hot in the brutal Colorado sun.
