Or the large umbrella stands alone in a Strathwood umbrella base sold separately. The tan shade screen is made of polyester fabric that resists rain, UV deterioration, and mildew, while the pole is made of aluminum and the eight-point rib system is steel. The fabric color matches cushions in Strathwood's St. Thomas furniture collections for a fully accessorized look. A crank handle attached to a white nylon pulley rope enables secure raising and lowering of the umbrella. To prevent gusts from blowing the umbrella over, a vent in the top allows air to pass through yet keeps rain out. Topping the eight-foot shaft is a black plastic screw-on finial for a finishing touch. The umbrella weighs approximately 11 pounds.

Nice unless it's windy outside,

While the product description says this has a cast aluminum pole, it is really an extruded aluminum pole that is only slightly heavier gauge than a beverage can. Within days of placing it on my deck, we had a moderate wind which snapped the pole in two places. My older umbrella actually has a cast aluminum pole and has withstood years of heavier winds. This product would be a nice accent in a greenhouse, or some other indoor application, but it should not be used anytime there is a possibility of wind.

Horrible, low quality umbrella,

Umbrella broke the 2nd day it was on my patio.
MILD wind snapped it off and the "metal" bracket broke off. Supposedly has a 1 year warranty.....not getting any help from Amazon/"Strathwood"

Gotta Have Shade,

This umbrella has great size, gives good shade coverage. The tilt feature works very well and the wind hole in the top actually works. This is a great value for the dollar.
