Carrying the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, this set is crafted of high-density Brazilian eucalyptus wood that is harvested in a sustainable fashion. The eucalyptus timber is highly sought after for the creation of outdoor furniture due to its strength and natural ability to withstand moisture and heavy use.
The Strathwood Blakely bench is designed to complement the Blakely extending dining table, yet its stand-alone elegance makes it a centerpiece all on its own. With a slightly curved seat for added comfort, the bench also employs mortise-and-tenon joint construction to add an extra level of strength while significantly easing assembly. This bench measure 15 inches deep by 60 inches long by 17-7/10 inches high.
As with the entire Strathwood Blakely collection, the bench is stained a gorgeous chocolate brown. The fully-coordinating collection includes the extending dining table, the dining arm chairs, and the dining bench. To complete the look, further accessorize the bench and chairs with a selection of custom-fit cushions. These cushions are available in multiple colors and are designed exclusively for the Blakely collection. Filled with everLUXE poly-fill and covered in 100-percent, UV-treated polyester fabric, these cushions were created to weather season after season.
Left untreated, eucalyptus will weather when exposed to the elements, and the stain will fade with time. In addition, when untreated, natural splitting or cracks will appear, but this will not affect the durability of the furniture. To guard against this weathering process and to maintain a desired look, apply coats of a hardwood oil. The frequency of necessary oil applications depends on the intensity of the outdoor elements. The furniture has already been oiled prior to packing, and it is recommended that an oil treatment be repeated at least once a year. Giving the furniture an extra treatment before exposing to rain will prolong the “new” look and ensure a longer life.

The quality of this bench is not very high. When assembling it, I got splinters and oil/stain all over my hands. I guess they pre-oiled it? There are scratches on the piece and some spots that weren't stained properly. When I put it together, 2 of the holes are not drilled deep enough, so I had to take the screws back out, drill deeper, and re-insert the screws. Thank goodness the holes weren't stripped after the first try!
Also - how do people use this furniture when it's oiled, etc? I don't want to sit on it because I'm afraid I will stain my clothes. And I don't want to sit on it straight out of the pool because I'm afraid the water will ruin it. What do I do??? I can't really return it because it's already put together and I have a party coming up where I need seating. In fact, I may be forced into buying another one just so my guests have seating. I'm cautious, though, because of the problems I had with this one. Makes me feel like I'm selling out. hahahaha Please post a comment here if you have sealed yours with polyurethane or the like. I was thinking that would at least make it waterproof. I'm worried it won't stick due to the oil. Another note - the screws are gold-ish and DO NOT match the overall look of the bench. Manufacturer should provide some sort of bolt cover to make it match or at least not stand out as much! I can't figure out how to contact the seller for a touch-up kit to fix the scratches and areas with no stains. I will say that the size of color of this bench are nice. It goes well with my table. It is also a nice height and has a nice curve in the top. The only reasons I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. I will update my post if I hear back from the sellers at all.

The bench is great; It was easy to assemble and is now shinny after three coats of teak oil. I bought a cast aluminum set that the bench looks great with. The reason I'm giving it a four star is that I think it could have used some more sanding. But we are enjoying it.

I love this oversized bench. It goes great with the matching Strathwood table. Good quality wood. I didn't love the matching bench cushion that goes with it which I bought separately. There's no way to keep the cushion securely on the bench. It looks and feels great without a cushion.
