Exasperatingly riddled with inaccuracies, June 14, 2011
This review is from: Stravinsky 4 Etudes (Kalmus Edition) (Paperback)
I purchased this edition of Stravinsky's four Op. 7 etudes around two months ago. Since then I have only studied the fourth one. In it, however, I have found several misprints as follows (m=measure, b=beat, etc.):
m 16, b 4, tenor D-shrp should be F-shrp
m 19, b 2, bass F-dbl shrp should be G-dbl shrp
m 31, b 1, alto C-nat should be B-nat
m 31, b 4, bass C-shrp should be C-nat
m 36, b 3, alto C-flt should be C-nat
m 45, b 2, soprano A-nat should be A-flt; therefore
m 45, b 4, soprano A-nat should be A-flt
m 49, b 1, bottom two notes of chord should be spelled A-nat, B-shrp; therefore
m 49, b 2, chord should be spelled B-shrp, D-shrp, F-shrp, A-nat, B-shrp
m 67, b 3, soprano F-nat should be F-shp
The ten misprints in this etude suggest that there are many more waiting to be painfully discovered in the other three. To satisfy my curiosity, I checked the 'Every Note' online version of the fourth etude by downloading it for $1.75 from the first sheet music site which registered on my Google search (as opposed to around $2.50 per etude plus international shipping for the printed Kalmus edition) and found no misprints. None.
